Not saying it would be- especially as I have just written in another thread about Yaya needing to be further forward, BUT, would he have been a better option than Garcia? Certainly probably provided more confidence to the other 3. I imagine, like many others have said, yesterday wasn't so much about Garcia having a poor game, but just the fear that having Garcia and Lescott as the 2 CB's will strike into the rest of the team and the knock on effect that could have on everyone else, clearly Zaba and Clichy who were both at fault for goals.

Hindsight's a wonderful thing. Personally I'd never play Yaya at centre half simply because I don't think he's particularly strong in the air or in the tackle. Garcia, as witnessed by the number of headers he wins from attacking corners, is a threat in the air and therefore I can see the logic in playing him at centre half ahead of Toure. I also agree that rather than Garcia particularly having a poor game, there was a nervousness around which Pellegrini probably inadvertently fed by asking the full backs to stay closer to the two centre halves to offer a little more protection.

Be interested to see Rodwell at the back one day. Certainly think he's got all the attributes.

He is very good in the air, yet that is probably his only attribute. The major worry is if we go 3/4 games without Kompany teams know just how to beat us, or at least try too. 2 corners provides a brilliant platform for teams to work on the week before playing us- and whilst Kompany himself may not have stopped those goals, it is the leadership/structure he provides. (also have we gone back to man to man- perhaps that caused confusion).

Teams like stoke, though not managed by Pulis anymore, will still relish lumping balls into the box- and we never do well at the Britannia. The same goes for Hull, but to lose at home to Hull would be unthinkable. We have just given teams a real base to work upon now.

I would expect a new defender at the club by the end of the week at the latest. We've got Hull, Stoke, then an international break which also gives Vinny time to recover. Overall I'm not concerned about what happened yesterday beyond the bad individual errors from Zaba. Everything else I expect will naturally improve as the players spend more time on the training pitch with Pellegrini ...

I don't think Pellegrini, Txiki and Ferran really understand how difficult it is to regain the Premier League title and win games in this league and build the right squad. They are looking through tinted glasses and seriously they are in for a shock.

They should have backed him last year, we would have won the league and we would have a much stronger squad now and they still could have sacked him as it would have been in line with their holistic approach. Instead we have a squad which is still in need of serious additions and a proxy manager and one in Tixxi, who is unaccountable. We need a seriously good addition in defense, one player would be fine another Navas work horse on the left, that's all.

Judging by that post your gripe is ultimately with Khaldoon about the way him and Sheikh Mansour have chosen to run the club.

Which to be fair is a legitimate gripe.

Just because Khaldoon and Sheikh Mansour have done so much for us doesn't mean that they're untouchable nor immune from making bad decisions. VOOMER didn't actually say anything that I think anybody would disagree with.

Is the correct answer - because he had no choice as they were the only two fit players available to play in those positions ... ?

Clearly you never saw yaya stroll through the champions league final at centre half. You can't pick a player on the grounds he can head the ball!! Forget the Garcia decision or his performance though yesterday pellegrini got a lot more wrong and his response to the game as it unfolded was non existent. As far as I can see though no one me included is asking for his head just a lot of us are pissed of that Mancini was sacked for one but then you am the rest of the pellegrini fan boys bigged him up to a level that was ridiculous whilst showing total lack of respect for Roberto and now you're on here making crap excuses.

It's unrealistic to expect Pellegrini to have all the answers so soon into his tenure but anything less than top three & reaching the knockout phases of the CL would certainly ensure a speedy exit for him

I like his style and the way he deals with the media compared to Bob but that means absolutely nothing without success on the pitch.

I'm pretty sure that you should absolutely pick defenders facing Cardiff on their ability to head a ball..

Correct but they better bloody well realise how difficult it is very quickly.

There was a clearly audible chant for Mancini towards the end of yesterday's match and we don't want the atmosphere poisoning at future matches.
Really, or are just WUMming ? Only an idiot would chant for any previous manager.

Don't be daft, the guys a popular manager who guided us to our first success in a long time, of course he's going to have the odd chant here and there. Did we just forget Mercer when he left?

Do you think some of our fans are any different to Dippers or the Chavs if we went on a bad run?

I do agree with you though abt the idiot bit.
