With all these new plans, the money we have and possible success we're gonna get, we're obviously gonna get some new fans/tourists/glory hunters. Do you want them?

Personally I don't! I don't want to end up like that scum down the road.

If you wanna support City, you need a connection - come from Manchester or near by, family member supporting them, etc.. And that goes for every club.

Don't get me wrong I'm very grateful for everything the owners have done for us and we really look like we are heading in the right direction, it all seems too good to be true tbh, but I just can't be doing with the tourists/glory hunters we'll attract, especially when it could also mean that the proper fans might miss games cos of them too.

Tin hat on.

Firstly, let me state I don't disagree with what you're saying, much rather we kept CoMS full of fans rather than people there for a "day out", but, you need a connection to support the club but owning the club without a connection is fine?
My thoughts exactly can hardly moan about gloryhunters when our owners had nothing to do with us before and are basically using our Premiership status for their own needs(not that I care I love them to bits)anyway the good thing about glory hunters is the word glory.

Sorry people but some of the tripe i've read here it's like reading the BNP manifesto....

"you're not welcome if you have no link to Manchester".... if you are not born in Manchester or have no family born in Manchester you must leave now....
if you want success you must also leave now....

Our owners are Arabs, our manager is Italian, the players well we all know what nationality they are, only a few in the squad have some form of connection locally and they rarely get first team appearances.

an Argentinian is on the front of the poster that says: welcome to manchester.
I mean didn't we recently fight them in a war?

Get over it, we are a multi-national club where the shirt you wear is made in some factory in Thailand by some child who's mother probably gave you a special massage on your holiday.

Wherever you are from, I welcome you to this club.
I'm mancunian, i was born here and my families are from here - but the chinese kid who's parents own the chippy down the road is probably a bigger city fan than alot of posters on here, he hasn't missed a game all season.
is he a gloryseeker? yes... but if we are all honest we all want Glory right? so we are all gloryseekers.
the congestion around the stadium is there for a reason, because majority of fans live far away and wide from that stadium which is why they drive to there.

Right, first game Wrexham 98/99, 6 time season ticket holder, sat in 3 of the 4 stands at Coms, sung bluemoon on stage at the Coms open day in August 03 when i was 10, I was there v Barca at the very first Coms game, am I eligible to call myself a 'real' fan?

No, just a cheap karaoke artist. ;-)

Absolute drivel. We wanna see City shirts all over the world.
Embrace our new found wealth and future friends, whoever they may be.
Success will breed a new 'type' of fan but not necessarily the wrong type.
Man City is not exclusive for a few people who think, 'keep it City'.
We'll get no where with this attitude, sorry guys I think your wrong.

Yeah, we'll get a few wankers along the way (er, we have now, lol) but do not judge a few new fans in the same vein as the scum.

Supporters are the life blood of the team.

City's support has waxed and waned over the years. Are we saying that the fans who started supporting City in the 60's and 70's are less worthy?

I hope and don't think the original posters intention is to slag the "tourists" on BM off. As a gloryhunting tourist since 92 I find this an interesting question and one I feel pretty certain we/"you" will face sooner or later.

As a "tourist" (foreign one) I am surrounded by "plastics", as you call them, everywhere, and they can be just as passionate about their clubs as we are. The thing that sickens me is the way they started supporting, say United - which is by looking at the league table. I have my own reasons for supporting City, and it's certainly not by looking at the league standings as a child. I have a feeling, though, that this will be the reason why the seven-year-olds of tomorrow and such will start supporting us. These supporters probably will grow up the same way the children of the nineties grew up, and develop the same mentality towards City the plastics of today have towards united, which is natural, as we will be winning all there is to win ;)

Hmm... I wonder if anyone will actually understand what I just wrote. Not so sure I do myself.

Fuck me! A poster, posting common sense, what next a thread not about our neighbours?

Great post mate.

I will cry the day I see 'fans' taking pictures of Man United players like they do at the swamp when we play them (taking pictures of city players).

I get really pissed off with threads like this so
Imagine..... and its not that hard 2 years time the Champions League Final, Us playing another somewhere in Europe.
The TV camera scans an end full of the old sky blue just before kick off, flags flying-banners waving-horns hooting-bannanas and assorted inflatables jumping the massed ranks singing and think......
Point out the Manchester born fans ,can you hell in that crowd we are all blues !
From anywhere in Europe and beyond we are gathered to shout the boys home a mass of sky blues is just that.
Move on, the club has, stop the small town attitude,I have loved this club over 42 years but a guy in China unable to go can love it as much as me.
Get Bigger in mind Blues we are better than the evil empire but not unless you stop mentaining the small club attitude.
