Does Yaya still have a role?

Unless there has been a seismic change in his attitude and fitness I cannot see him breaking back into the starting line up injuries apart.
Just does not give us enough when we are not in possession.

If his agent's comments are true, I suspect that the club have decided to clip his wings. There's no chance that the seluk of old would have accepted this so magnanimously.

Why? Seluk has got exactly what he wanted. He is a winner in this situation. Sit out this year and get a fat cheque - mission accomplished.

I like Guardiola for his no bull shit ways and not being over powered by big names with gob shite agents.

Thanks Yaya you were great when you wanted to, but now is the time for both you and your side kick to leave.

I see the team work and ethic that has been instilled by Guardiola with no egos attached, and it's a breath of fresh air.

You are claiming that City denied him compassionate leave to see his dying brother then?

And what the fuck does that have to do with him being successful. As many people have said, nobody is saying he isn't one of if not THE MOST important players to play for us in recent history. Are you really so thick that you can't conceive of a person being both a world class athlete AND a sociopath?

jeez bit of a gobby shite arent you. Not quite sure why you windmilled into the debate anyway? And what are you talking about compassionate leave for? This convo is so fucked up now.

Anyway, bottom line, he is a City great and deserves more respect

Good to see we now have a manager that is strong enough to make the right call for the team. Players(including Yaya) have been far too comfortable the last few seasons and its started to show on the pitch! Wonderful player on his day but a good 18 months since we've seen the Yaya of old. Poor system fit, on the decline and seems to lack the hunger/fight/passion to push his way into a "Pep side" and Pep could see it, which is why he wasnt even put in the CL sqaud and think its the right call.

He's had a big part to play in some wonderful moments for the club but think the time to sell was 1 or even 2 summers ago when he still had value. Now we stuck with a very expensive, aging player that is on the decline and doesnt fit the system.

One of our greatest ever players decided to stay and see it out his contract for another pay day. He should of left after the season before last now he will tarnish he's rightful place as one of our greatest ever.
Personally have nothing but respect for nasri and the others wanting to play 90mins every week.

Maybe Yaya has told the class prick to shut up at last. Yaya is one of the best players to grace our club and was a pivotal player in getting us to where we are now. Frustrating at times yes, but a bloody awesome sight when in full flow attack mode.

Time catches up with the best of us, no different for him

Interesting. Surprised he hasn't been more critical to be honest.

Not that surprising. Agent has been as good as gold since Pep turned up. Clearly there is an understanding between City and Yaya for this season and as long as everyone sticks to it no reason for anyone to mouth off.

Maybe him and his agent have realised that acting like babies will get them nowhere with pep, when we first announced pep they were not very nice about it,it would be a shame for him to leave under bad terms but the agent has pissed a lot of people off

Not really when nearly 1/3rd of Yaya's wages are performance related. Including appearance bonuses.

How so?

He's still getting paid isn't he? He's training with the first team isn't he?

What do you want? City to pay up his contract so he can move somewhere on a fee and nice signing on fee? Maybe Txiki to suck him off at half time?

Hope we are calling his bluff and tempting him to buy out his remaining contract or have no game time.

You asked me what I was on about and I answered you. Just because you don't know what the fuck you are talking about doesn't mean that I am wrong. He slandered the club two summers ago. You either believe that or you believe that City denied him compassionate leave. You are clearly MR. BIG BLUE. So which one is it. You going to take your club's side or Yaya's...you can't take both?

Then he knows what he has to do to get in the side.

Pep has been ruthless this summer. I feel for a couple of the players but I am happy to see it. We have drifted recently and I have a feeling by the end of his tenure, we will be in a great position squad wise and hopefully will have a few more trophies in the bag.

Absolutely. No player is bigger than the club now...its been a long time coming and a welcome relief.

How big is this loyalty payment he's meant to get ?
Loyalty fee?!? It's embarrassing for everyone this situation but good on the management, 100% behind them on this!
Him & his agent will ruin his football career & his legacy because of greed.
I used to think he was a legend but now he'll always be known as the footballer who decided he'd rather not play football

An absolute fucking legend and as big a part of our recent success and growth (playing wise) as any other single individual.

However, been past it for 2 seasons now.

Being left out of the CL squad is the correct call, the CL has embarrassed him on numerous occasions.

Yaya would've joined the other players I suspect of being 'bigheads' - Nasri and Hart, out on loan, had anyone actually wanted him.

This approach of no one is a 'name', no one is bigger than the club, no one is to big to be dropped, is the breath of fresh air MP didn't have the stones / permission to implement.

Proper no nonsense approach. I love it.
