Unsurprisingly Trump has filed a last minute motion to get the case stayed on the grounds of ……wait for it…..PREJUDICIAL PRE TRIAL PUBLICITY.

Today is the day. A criminal prosecution of Trump starts with jury selection. I expect that to last a week but, after that, the fun and games start.
Some commentators are suggesting that Trump will offer to plead guilty to one of the lesser charges, thus precluding the public rehearsal of all the gory details. I dont expect the prosecution to accept this deal. The American people need to hear all the details, especially as this may be the only trial before the election.
Trump says he will testify, but he won’t.

Of all the stuff hanging over him this is the weakest. Nothing will ever happen to him with any of it anyway, but certainly not with this one. Cohen is the star witness and he will be torn to shreds. Only takes 1 juror to not care less and hes scot free.

I was reading about the merits of bringing the case and some commentators were saying its important because it goes to him hiding his actions from the electorate before the 2016 one and how he tried to keep banging a pornstar from them. A couple of weeks before that election was the 'grab them by the pussy' business anyway, and that didnt put any of his voters off anyway.

Cant see this going anywhere imho other than to galvanise his base even further.

I agree with almost everything you wrote - except that I think extremely bad things - as opposed to "nothing" - will happen to him. I think he'll be convicted in the Georgia election interference case, as well as the Federal Jan 6th case (in spite of the Supreme Court's attempt to delay the matter). The Federal classified documents case is a "slam dunk" conviction provided that Cannon is removed (50/50ish chance I think).

His base can't be brought back into reality no matter what the **** does. Its all about the Independents who are wavering.

Agree. I suspect he will be found guilty in this trial. The real issue is if he gets jail time or not. I've seen all sorts of suggestions from small fines to 2 years or more.

And the other trials are hanging precariously. Something will move before November. Even if they get a start before November it's really bad for him.

His base support is baked in but its not enough. He needs 50% + of swing voters. Plenty of evidence that he won't get that.
