Drinking on your own in a pub

I do it whilst waiting for a train or waiting to meet someone/people.

Have to be reading a paper or on the mobile though.

Is this socially acceptable? I know a load of old timers do it and i dont bat an eyelid, but im 24... Sometimes i just cant be arsed with anybody, i cant be bothered talking and just fancy a pint. I live in town so ive loads of places on my doorstep, so i go for a walk with my ipod and find a place with some decent beers and chill out for a bit. Il be honest, i feel like a right sad bastard when im doing it and i get the feeling that everybody must be looking at me thinking "HAHA look at that lonely twat", is this the case?!
I feel the need to get my phone out every 10 minutes to make it look like im waiting for somebody or my trains delayed or something!
Does anybody else go for a quiet pint on your own? I need reasurring that im not a 80 year old in a 24 year olds body

Socially acceptable??? It's one of life's exquisite pleasures! Torygraph crossword and a pint of Bow - wonderful.

Bit of downtime, time on your own and if you are desperate for company, you can always find it.

Used to do it now and again by myself. Go at my own pace and relax. Didn't fancy doing it at nights more of early afternoon. If you do it at nights one of your mates will drag you to a public crawl or club

Dunno mate, I do it at least 3 times a week,although I know I'm going to know people in the pubs, wether that's friends, barmaids,landlords or just general people who I know but wouldn't class as friends.

I despise standing still and not being in control of where I'm going so I'll always go in to the Pub for a pint if someone is running late on me. I'll rarely just go to the Pub alone unless I want to a watch a match because I find I tend to attract the idiot, the ne'er do well or the local nuisance if I'm just sat there by myself. They never approach if I'm with someone.

I know many a person who won't go somewhere unless they've got someone to go with. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. Never has.

I think you're paranoid. I genuinely can't remember the last time I saw someone sat alone in a Pub or Cafe and thought "look at that sad bastard sat on his own" etc. People have got other things to worry about aside from you!

A couple of weeks back, I did London to Hereford, Hereford to Manchester and Manchester to London on my own by train over the course of three days as a short break. Obviously I had people to meet at each place but every train journey was alone and I really enjoyed the scenery out of the window. It cleared my head.

I often go for a swift couple on my own. Chill out with a pint and the paper for an hour or so. In fact, I often get pissed off when mates come in and disturb my solitude!

You've got no mates except the rag twats you live with and they don't count.
