Dunne and Dusted

Just looked at the first few pages of the Dunne thread on VillaTalk. They think he is fat and slow. Of all the things you could call Dunney for, being fat or slow isn't either of them.

It won't be the same man city with out him

whether you like it or not, hughes didnt spend 24m to put lescott on the bench for dunne.

PLUS..Dunne isn't gone yet. Villa havnt even made a bid. Premature thread?

Has said all along he wants to stay and fight for a spot like everybody else and so it should be.

Management have said we will not force him to go but in saying that nobody including the likes of Tevez and Robby etc can be guaranteed a starting position.

Unless he wants to go and has had a change of heart there is no reason to sell him.

He has known for sometime that we are looking to strenghten all positions including the one he normally plays in.

I would surprised if he leaves us in this window but lets see how things pan out.

yeh exactly, we're not everton- we dont need any money. especially a measly 6 million.

To compete at all levels this season we need a 'squad'. That is what it is all about these days having quality back up in all areas. The Carling Cup for example would be ideal to give players a game, Zab NDJ , Nedum & Petrov are all excellent players. With Dunne if those were picked that would be a very strong team for Thursday night. Dunne would also provide very good cover in that position. Whilst he may not be first choice I don't see why we need to sell him. Unless the player himself wants to leave then Dunne should stay.

I can see why Martin O'Neill would want him, he's got a young side and needs some experience (now he's lost Laursen to retirement at the back) and leadership qualities (now he's lost Barry).

Still I have to say I am gutted, never wanted Dunney to leave and still until this deal is confirmed I will be hoping it doesn't go through.

The fact we have the resources now to bring in players of immense quality obviously softens the blow more nowadays, but it's still not good to lose through-and-through City players. Best of luck to Dunney if he goes to Villa but I sincerely hope he doesn't.

after all the years of service and player of the years etc, i'd love dunne to stay as a squad player and if we win something, send him up first to pick up the trophy!

you couldnt blame him for wanting more regular action and if thats the case i wish him all the best.

I shall be gutted to see Dunnie leaving us, he did us proud over so many years and was a fine example how someone can turn their life around and get right back on track. He will be sadly missed, but perhaps it is the best move for him as there has been a growing ground swell against him, especially on this forum and he has become the "fall guy" for so many people when the team or the defence in particular don't perform well. When he does have a good game only a small minority give him credit.
Some people have very short, or perhaps selective memories!

All the very best for the future Dunnie, you will be missed and I hope there will always be a big welcome for you any time you come back to play at Coms.
