Dzeko [Merged]

I would rather have Peter Crouch than Dzeko. Wonder goal aside yesterday, I thought his touch was top drawer, he was physical and very rarely lost possession. If we're looking for the big man small man combo then why not?

For the money we've spent on him, Dzeko has to be one of the worst players I've seen to grace the shirt

What was it I said? Oh yeah that was it 'Dzeko is the new Samaras', I was called every name under the sun on this forum after that thread but look who was right.

Listen to Kiam06 people.

What was his goals per game ratio compared to Dzeko?
Statistics mean nothing, Berbaflop wonthe golden boot last year but fergie realised he was shite and added nothing to the team and hasn't played him this year so behave.

Re: after two years i've given up.

Dzeko is a great counter attack striker. And yes He's simply just average at the tippy tappy stuff. Sadly, we stopped counter attacking quickly in November (both home and away) and it is the reason why our away form is very poor.

Get Dzeko the ball quickly and he will do the business. If not - no point in playing him.

Crouch has always had fairly good ball control, contrary to what the traditional ''big lump'' centre forward is supposed to have. Dzeko? Well; he traps the ball further than I can kick it.

I'll re-post here what I posted in Ban's mess of a thread:

His 18 goals look brilliant and its true that without them we wouldn't be second. The problem is, it would've been better if those goals had been spread out over the season because he's now scored 5 in his last 20-odd games, which isn't good enough. I'm sick of hearing about how its Mancini's fault because his tactics don't suit Dzeko, DZEKO SHOULD BE ABLE TO ADAPT. If its all Mancini's fault, then tell me why Dzeko is consistently cocking up when he is failing at scoring goals from supposedly one of his strengths, heading, when he is supplied enough chances to score from such opportunities, see yesterday and the Sporting 2nd leg. The ability is there, that there is no doubt but people have to admit that had his goals not dried up, we'd be walking the league now. It's not entirely his fault, but he has to shoulder a lot of the responsibility.

Re: after two years i've given up.

He scores some nice goals and has played some excellent games. However I keep getting the impression that he's a wimp and he rarely looks fired up. I think he lacks real determination and looks to be easily knocked off his confidence.

Although, I think there's a real confusion about what his strengths are by many Blues and the media. Heading is one of the lesser parts of his game for me. He has real good open/broken play attributes. Counter attacking really suits his game. Once he gets into his stride he's very quick. Also receiving the ball to feet from the edge of the D to the penalty spot he is very dangerous (I don't remember him receiving one single pass to feet in this area yesterday at Stoke against not the most mobile defenders marking him!). He creates space for himself to shoot from around this area and with either foot excellently.

But for me he seems to hide a lot. It's as if he's a little lad in the playground playing with the older boys. I feel like running on and telling him he's a good player and giving a few rugby style slaps in the face to gee him up. It's as if he doesn't think he's a good player.
