^^^ How many games do we give him not scoring goals, for him to find his form?

Do we write off the league for this season, so we can build up his confidence ?

I don't fucking think so.

people soon forget his 13 goals.

it looks like his temporary form got the 13 goals???

Re: Dzeko

You know, I don't actually think Dzeko is that bad. I think the way we play isn't suited to him at all.

I've been saying that for months if you read my posts, but yesterday was honestly a shocker.

He's never been that poor for us before except maybe Munich. I think we can afford to give him more time. He might not even be fully settled in...

class player going through a bad patch for one reason or another

those of you who slate him deserve corradi and samaras...
why? coz he's not cut the mustard, we have to go back to a worse striker? make sense please?

Re: Dzeko

Our style of play is more Barca than United.

ie plenty of intricate passing and small mobile players.

Edin is not a bad player as he has shown for us on occasions. If he played for United he would be perfect. Counter attacking, attacking down the flanks.

However with most teams now parking the bus even at their own grounds, he is not really a fit for us.

Actually, he is. In those games where you need an target man he fits it, it s those situations against teams who rather contribute to the game by having high perc of ball possession where hes not really helpful.

Re: Dzeko

We know Dzeko can cut the mustard, he did it before coming to City but looks like he needs a run of games. Being 'rotated' after spuds away 4 goals definately didn't do him/City any favours ! He needs a run of games but probably wont get that with the strikers prefered before him ! Lets hope he can perform next time he's prefered to start !?!?

how has he not cut the mustard?

he is a good good player when played to his strengths, great touch, hold up play, great in the air, great skill for a bigman and his finishing is like any striker his build..iffy.

lets get this right, if dzeko hasnt cut the mustard neither has aguero or balo, lets replace and boo them all eh?

Re: Dzeko

So it's a knee-jerk reaction then ?? The fact he had a good record before he came here is true, and any forward playing in our side should score plenty of goals given the service available. But that papers over the problem that he looks slow in the Prem, lacking a reliable first touch and appears to be carrying his dissatisfaction onto the pitch. He is undoubtedly a good player - but just doesn't fit for me. Once again - Rich man's Samaras.
Yes his return rate looks good - but look at most of those matches - we were home and dry, and anyway he should have doubled his tally if his finishing had been better. Nice lad, good player, but not too inconsistent. Our creative players need movement, control, and pace to feed.

None of our three strikers plays every game. And it obviously affects them. However Mario pops in and out of the team and he seems the least affected. Probably because he is the most gifted both technically and yes mentally.

So in the big games he will get the nod over Edin.

Re: Dzeko

Dzeko is the fans current scape goat. The player to abuse at the slightest mistake.

Dzeko is a confidence player who's best game is to run down the channels take a ball two or three touches and bang - one in two times the ball is in the back of the net. Dzeko is a blitzkrieg striker who really isn't suited to pass-pass-pass-pass ONLY football - he is the guy to exploit space. Last season he worked his socks off working the channels but no one passed to him - He didn't score manay as people thought he should. At the start of this season we did pass down the channels and Dzeko scored a hat full. Now we have completely stopped passing down the channels and surprisingly we are shocked at how his goals have dried up. Being City fans we get on his back rather than look as the real cause - the ONE DIMENSIONAL attacking football that we have been playing for quite a while now.

It's not really that difficult to sort out the problem. But that's down to Mancini to mix things up a bit. Now teams have followed Napoli's example (and it's taken them a long time to cotton on) we have to start mixing things up or our chances of the League title are f*cked. Blame Dzeko as much as you want - it really isn't his fault.
