Edin grows into his role with the minutes he plays. He kept getting more and more confident last night, even though his first touch let him down a few times, and i really liked it when he stood up to Skrtl and gave him some - that's EXACTLY what i like to see in a player. Skrtl tried to bully Edin, Edin wouldn't stand for it and caused him problems all night. Skrtl tried to hurt him a few times, Edin squared up to him. Skrtl then lost his composure for the rest of the game, Edin won the psychological battle between them last night which can only be good for the upcoming League Cup games.

All Edin needs now is a goal to get his confidence on the ball and first touch going again. It's as though when he's not scoring he is thinking too much about everything, yet with a few goals his game flows much better.

I'm pleased with Edin from last night though. Without being ecellent on the ball he worked hard and showed some steal!

Re: Dzeko

He had one of those days.

Dzeko clearly wears his heart on his sleeve and his lack of confidence is there for all to see.

Mancini had the chance to sub him and resisted, which means he is prepared to let him play through it.

I feel his touch is exposed with the amount of times he is forced to drop deep with back to goal, but the lad wants to improve, and that's what all top players have.

just came to my mind what he said about the fourth goal at tottenham...remember this top ten goals video..and him commenting on his fourth..."gareth played a one two with me and i just tried with the left...after you score three goals the fourth comes from alone" that's the perfect example of his mind in one match...if one thing comes off he'll go for more...so let's hope a simple tap in comes off soon...the rest will follow...

Re: Dzeko

He's quite clearly lacking in confidence at the moment. Looks like he's a bit too eager to impress.

Still, his pass for the resulting penalty was class.

I hope Mancini gives him a run of games now. He needs it.

Re: Dzeko

Felt sorry for him last night,he was out on his feet at the end,the scousers kicked the shit out of him.

Re: Dzeko

Had a few words with some of our 'fans' last night.
Youre shit Dzecko. Get the donkey off Mancini was just s few of the comments and I thought enough was enough.

Re: Dzeko

hello fellow blues, just decided to make my first post on this issue. the dzeko problem although caused by his confidence being shattered is basically he just cant play with his back to goal. For a big man his biggest weakness is holding the ball up and bringing people into the game, he is just not a target man. he is basically a box predator and to get best out of him we need to play natural wingers playing the ball across in front of him. and that would mean AJ playing wide left not right which mancini just does not seem to grasp. thats not edins fault.

There were people around me fuming that Aguero was subbed and not Dzeko. Do they not understand that he needs a goal? He can only get a goal if he's on the pitch! I must say though, i was surprised he didn't take the penalty.

Re: Dzeko

I thought he had another poor performance. Very rarely challenged for a header, very poor first touch and even the simplest of passes seemed too difficult for him (apart from the through ball to Yaya for the pen)

I agree that he's a confidence player but can we really afford to be carrying passengers at this stage of the season?

We need to get a 4th striker in as last night showed we only had Johnson as an attacking option on the bench.

the penalty discussion was apparently lead by him and milner before milner took the ball...anyway I have seen him miss a fair share of penalties so it was good milner took the shot, edin will get his chance, maybe in the cup against the rags or against the other red shite, or wigan in the league...he will get his goal in january
