Is this thread about Dzeko? How come every thread is turning out to be something about why you support City and where your from!!

Because is all city go on about is where we're from. Dzeko is hinting at where we're from. Its great that a Bosnian whos lived in germany for years, is coming over and telling us whats whats in Manchester. That what happens when you sign for city

You rags realy do not have a sense of humour you have been taking the piss for 34yrs we have one little dig at your small minded bunch off followers and your all fukin crying foul it is so funny watching you fuckers squirm over one sentence what the fuck are you going to be like WHEN you are winning fuck all and City romp there way to trophy after trophy AND IT WILL HAPPEN.

And well done to whoever wrote the script for Edin it has had the desired effect(give us a laugh and send the sum into a fit)

he comes across as a very level head young man. Well spoken and intelligent.

If he can play football like he gives interviews we will win the league

to be honest if i was you, i really would not be bothered what Dzeko says...much in the same way i dont care what Garry Neville says or anyone else who plays for utd.

It makes me laugh how riled up you lot are getting about this!

The thing is though, salfordred, what muddies the waters regarding local support is people claiming to "support" a team while knowing fuck all about them.I,up until recently, worked in a factory in crumpsall. Most of the blokes in there lived around the Moston/Middleton/Failsworth areas. The majority(60-40) were utd fans over City fans.Only a few of the reds were ST holders, whereas most of the blues were ST holders.I appreciate that in Manchester, there are a LOT of genuine utd fans who care about your club and are knowledgeable about football in general.BUT,you must admit that there are a lot of cringeworthy pricks who just hang on to the coat-tails of utd's success, dismiss anyone else and would drop you like a stone if your success stopped.I dare say over the next few years we'll get our fair share of them aswell.

Fair point and I agree. Could we build a ground big enough to house everybody who claims to support utd? In a perfect world we could and we'd charge a quid to get in and even then a lot of so-called utd fans wouldnt go. Just because theres lots of glory hunters, jcls and kids in utd tops doesnt mean were all like that. I think it would be fair to say Utd have (or had until 5 years ago but we've not all died) got one of, if not the biggest 'hardcore' following in the world and our away support down the years proves this.

Of course you're not all like that mate. I've got a few mates who I would class as proper reds, regardless of whether they get to the games these days or not. However, there are others in my local that really haven't got a clue about United. One bloke who is roughly the same age as me (40) was trying to dispute a red mate of mine who said Ferguson's first trophy at United was the FA Cup 1990. Even when I got involved and confirmed this, he still wouldn't have it and reckoned Ferguson won the League Cup first. It was amusing seeing him argue with 2 football fans that have forgotten more than he knows.

I think what the poster you quoted is referring to - and you've agreed with him to an extent in all fairness - are the amount of so-called United "fans" that have been crawling out of the woodwork since you won the league in 1993 and paint themselves as die-hard fans of the club when they know next to nothing about United. And as much as I don't tend to agree with Brooklands Blue above, he has it pretty well nailed on with his references to people from school who have suddenly discovered a rather false passion for all things red.

Of course, if you took all these people away there would still be plenty of reds in Manchester although I doubt very much that the split would be 80-20 in your favour as some people on Red Cafe are laughably claiming.

Your lack of trophies doesn't give you the right to tell lies without being questionned. Iv just said I enjoy the exchanges. I said I find them funny (in a strange way).
Why are you jumping to the conclusion that utd fans want to smash up their tele's when dzeko was on SSN? Trust me, normal people dont take your lies seriously. I'll say it again MILDLY ANNOYING

If the future is a city success and Utd demise, then we'll then have to find our own ammo but we wont be stupid or desperate enough to make claims which are complete nonsense. My ammo will be -

arab money
hollow success (in future, possible)
nothing through your youth system(in future, probable).
You're banned from europe (in future, probable)
you're paying decent players world class money

All this is hypothectical of course... because city always fuck it up

I only want to try to prove you wrong because you're our local rivals. It kills time on my day off

All proper football fans hate knobheads like you mention there. Thats why we dont want to be tarred with the same brush.
Its hard to compare football fans in terms of the population of a city. If theres was one big raising of hands of every single person in manchester and the surrounding areas, then i reckon the ratio would be something unaccurate like 50:1 but 80% of them would not really be football fans and nearly all of them would choose utd. Just because football is so popular with the media i dont think thats a reflection of the city's demographic.
Of the remaining 20%. I reckon 4:1 would be fair. but I think that would make sense.
20% of greater manchester is about 500,000. so 100,000 would be actual city fans, of which about 50% would be match going some regulars others not so. therefore 1.5m would be actual utd fans of which a tiny percentage go to old trafford

some of those percentages and ratios could be complete bollocks. im just trying to apply a bit logic and numbers, instead of generalisation.

The vast majority of City fans only say it for banter purposes. You make it sound like we have a hidden agenda that involves brainwashing the whole world into thinking the same. And if we're talking lies, your fans have told a fair few whoppers down the years, some of which are for the purposes of banter but some that many of you actually really believe to be true:

1) All City fans are from Stockport. Not so much a lie as a retort to the "No United fans from Manchester" so no probs with that

2) City had the lowest ever crowd for a European final. Blatant lie - AC Milan vs Magdeburg in the ECWC Final attracted a far lower crowd than City vs Gornik Zabrze in the final of the same competition

3) Maine Road's highest ever crowd was for a match involving United. Blatant lie - City vs Stoke in the FA Cup 6th round in 1934 drew a crowd of 84,569, an English record that stands to this day. On the other hand, Old Trafford's highest ever crowd was for a match between Wolves and Grimsby.

4) United have always spent within their means and never had the benefit of a rich owner. Blatant lies yet again - John Henry Davies and James Gibson both saved United from extinction in 1902 and 1931 respectively and went on to pump large amounts of money into the club. Not to mention Louis Edwards who used his own cash to prop up United as well.

Like I say, the first one I'll happily accept as banter but the other 3 prove that United fans aren't exactly behind the door when it comes to lying about their neighbours and re-writing football history.

If we're talking Greater Manchester then United will piss it in fairness. If it's the city of Manchester only (and this is what I'm alluding to) then I reckon it's a lot closer - more than likely not 50-50 but no way is it 80-20 in favour of United either.

It doesnt matter what your motives are. Say something often enough and some people will take it as truth. I seen a link to the New York times where they had repeated your 'banter' as if it was fact. so city are tryin to brainwish people whether you intend to or not.

Its probably fair for you to point to the past to show us as being hypocrites, but its questionnable to compare then and now because the circumstances are surely different? Same name but different rules, culture, competitions, values almost everything as changed.

you could say we've been lucky. but over 100years u make your own luck. someone earlier in the thread said things might have been different if you hadnt won the league and then immediately got relegated just like things might have been different if it wasnt for busby, munich, trinity, ferguson, cantona, the next trinity (scholes giggs beckham), treble, ronaldo and now citys answers to all that is....

ur not proper mancs and arab oil money
