Dzeko to Dortmund

Get rid of Clichy? Why?

We re not going to sign Baines so forget about that, too old and expensive.

Isco would be a good signing but I feel that if we was going to sign him we would have done before his new contract. Barry i think is still good enough for a squad role, who would buy him anyway?
If we can get Rodwell fit then he will replace Barry and the athleticism we are lacking and I agree about Benat but he would be a starter IMO.

Baines is 28 and in his prime. Rodwell if he can stay fit is the natural successor to Barry, Benat regardless is good enough to start or be a fantastic bench player. If we are willing to spend 60 mill on fukin cavani surly 30 would be enough to get isco. his pace with silvas surgical eye will fukin rip teams apart and with baines and zab on the wings = title done by xmas. Clichy is good but not even close to baines level would be a x2 upgrade on defense + going forward threat not to mention he can actually fukin do corners something silva for the life of him or any 1 for that matter in the squad cant. 3 players that would improve us and in reality would cost 40 mill max. and we could try and steal benteke or lukaku for 20 mill and i doubt it would even clost us that much. IMO that is how u spend 60 mill rather then 1 marquee striker.

Clichy is 25 and not in his prime? You could also say?
Baines is good but I am just saying we will not be buying him.

I agree about Isco but surely if we were to sign him we would have bought him when he was cheaper or put the deal in place. I may be wrong but just seems stupid to seemingly wait for another 6 months then bid again and pay 10m more.

Lol, we scored the most goals from corners last year in the premier so clearly we are not that bad, we havent scored many this year but that doesn't mean we should use that as am excuse to buying someone.

Lukaku won't be leaving and I just don't see us buying Benteke when he has had one season where despite his goal return has been very hot and cold, reminds me of Adebayor.

Clichy is a good solid player BUT he does not provide or force players to keep an honest defense on him knowing that his final ball is garbage we hardly ever carry a left sided threat in matches. its your opinion ofc that he wont be coming here but it does not change the fact we need some 1 on the left that can provide a legit threat to make space on top of the box baines would be the most obvious option since hes in the top 3 in the world in his position another viable option would be smeltzer from BVB or Turam from Athletic madrid. would probably cost the same but they are not in the same league as banes but a good alternative. When it comes to Isco i dont know many midfielders that are young and have his ability and i think your in the same train of though in regards with him hes the perfect complement to silva. I know lukaku is more of a dream singing tbh (cuz he really looks like a young drogba) but benteke would be a gamble bid striker Villa are broke and they would probably offload him for a decent price.

I personally dont rate dzeko much at all and despite him being our top goal scorrer from this season just hilights cities current form to be nothing compared to what we where last season and we need changes... in my opinion dzeko to dortmund would be a good deal and it will make room for a new striker because at the moment we need world class players and dzeko simply is not one.

Clichy is just about in his prime now, he's never going to be able to take set-piece, cross or score screamers like Baines IMO. I do like Clichy a lot but Baines is quite a bit better.

We couldn't have signed Isco when he was cheap because at that point the clueless Marwood was in charge. He signed his new contract before the January transfer window. And the point of the contract was only to get more money for Malaga I think. They can't make CL next season unless they win it this season (lol) so he'll probably be looking to move on.

I agree that Lukaku probably won't leave, but if we can get him for around 20m or less then we've done some great business, because he really is brilliant. Destined for greatness. Being Belgian maybe Vinny could have a word.
Benteke is quite good and also still young, if we can get him cheap (hopefully Villa go down) then I'd certainly have him as 3rd/4th choice striker. Also Belgian.

Chelsea will not sell Lukaku to us and Malaga are banned from Champions League next year whether they win it or not.

From what I read they are banned from qualifying through league position.
I may have been misinformed.

Maybe not just presumed banned next year meant banned full stop. Seems crazy if they can qualify by winning the comp when effectively banned from qualifying through the league.

This the same midfield that provided enough firepower for our strikers to break records both club and league?

Everyone is having an off season bar Zaba. We don't need radical changes just improvements in terms of some width and direct pace eg Sanchez and a playmaker eg Benat who can sit in midfield.

We will suffer if we go out and sell everyone then replace them.

Nasri, Barry, and clichi need to go. replace with banes, isco and give rodwell berrys job get benat as backup and win the league simple.
I disagree. You can't rely on Rodwell to stay fit. Benat is good but playing him and Yaya as our two central midfielders would be ridiculous - no progression in CL with those two in there. And Benat isn't that good. Like, he's not close to being a world class player. But yeah, Isco is awesome.

Reminder too that providing they get the right manager, Chelsea will be a real threat next year. Along with their current squad, they may have De Bruyne, Lukaku and Courtois. Almost certain they'll spend too with some old, hefty earners off the books.

Why he couldn't repeat what he did in Germany ?
We don't play to his strengths like they did at Wolfsburg. The spurs game nasri kept crossing dzeko kept scoring. If we play wingers his does good. When we at passing game or whatever he struggles bc he does not have the greatest touch. There are even games where I see him drift to the wings and his our tallest striker does not make much sense. If he went to Bayern where they have robben n ribery on the wings he would score over 20+ goals a season easy.

Muller, Shaqiri as well as the overlapping runs of Alaba and Lahm. Bayern for me have a pretty good balance between crossing and intricate passing/through balls through the middle.

This, Danny Simpson [spits] was right when he said "Dzeko is pants"

His goal scoring record is as good if not better in England compared to time played. It's much better comparing to the way he was used at Wolfsburg where he was the main player and one you look for when you get the ball.

His overall game is not on same level though, strange stuff.

I look forward to the 'dzeko scores 2 more' 'why did we sell dzeko? ' bring back dzeko!' 'dzeko scores again' 'dzeko golden boot winner' threads.

In the Bundesliga

111 matches, 66 goals, 28 assists, 8957 minutes played
0.59 goals per match, 0.85 scorerpoints per match
a goal every 131 minutes, a scorerpoint every 93 minutes

In the Premier League

70 matches, 28 goals, 12 assists, 3713 minutes played
0.4 goals per match, 0.57 scorerpoints per match
a goal every 132 minutes, a scorerpoint every 93 minutes

In the Bundesliga he only was subbed 15 times and came into the match 9 times. Whereas in the EPL he already got subbed 34 times and came into the match 13 times.

I do not think that his numbers now are worse - especially if you take in mind that he seldom plays a whole match and often gets substituted. When you e.g. see that he scored 33 of his 66 goals in the Bundesliga after the 60th minute - 20 after minute 75 - and he usually started - that might have an influence, too.

------------

Why do I always read the misconception that it is good for a forward to have Robben on the wing? He ain't really the one that provides.
