In 36 games with Lille, he marked an impressive 17 goals and 15 assists (17 goals and 22 assists when counting like transfermarkt.com where a penalty caused counts as an assist. This counting reflects the actual influence of the game more accurately) .

With these statistics, Hazard is the only player together with Messi who has 15 goals and at least 15 assists.

A side note: He's the most fouled player in Europe, no wonder he causes so many penalties.

Barca tried to sign him in the summer of 2008. Well not confirmed, but there were very strong rumours back then surrounding that after he ran rings around the Spain side at the EC-17. (He scored and caused a sending off, Belgium lost 6-7 on penalties)
Lille responded by immediatly offering him a pro-contract with a 5 million € release-clause. One of the main reasons clubs as Arsenal were kept at bay the subsequent years because that's a lot of money for some youngster.

Btw, for the ones calling him a moneygrabbing attention seeking whore: (mainly disappointed Arsenal fans on Twitter) He chose Lille back then over the money off the bigger clubs because it was close to home, just over the border of Belgium and Lille has a great academy which has an impressive trackrecord of players breaking through in Ligue1.

I hope he can continue to do these as it's great to watch but in the EPL... some frustrated Stoke-player might kick him off the field.

Honestly, his higlights are great, but in matches, his decision making is so nice, and that impresses me the most about him. He's intelligent. You should download some of his matches if you get a chance.
