Ederson or Hart. Who gets into the team of the decade?

You weren't at Spurs, Barcelona Etihad against Dortmund and dozens of other places then because on his day Hart was as good as any keeper anywhere, players form can fall off a cliff it happens.

True but top level players have more of those on their day moments and less of the bad ones. Still awaiting another top keeper who was discarded or dropped so much.

I think a lot depends on what you'd call a top keeper to be honest, Hart was bought for what £100k. Now if anyone bought for more is a top keeper I can readily think of one who cost about £17 million who's forms seen him dropped quite a lot. but if you mean one who's won more Golden gloves than Hart I can't think of one.

For 100k he’s was good how’s that? Still awaiting the name of a legendary keeper who got dumped by so many managers.

4 golden gloves says joe hart is or was world class and up there was the best, sadly lost his way and pep wanted to go in another direction of playing out from the back, i think the problem with joe hart is he see's anything after manchester city to be 2nd rate and he knows how lucky he was to be playing in a great squad of players, and now just wants to milk the rest of his career at a lower level knowing they can never take what he did at manchester city away from him

maybe he will get another bite at the cherry if a big club believes in him ?? he still got a lot of football left in him to offer, but at clubs like burnley or west ham just will not cut it for joe he needs a challenge and lets hope he can get back to the top

I've heard Tony Meola (in my opinion, the best all time American goal keeper) put on the spot many times in the last few months about goal keepers. He has the normal top few, Allison, De Gea, Ederson, Neuer, etc. He says that for what is asked of him, Ederson is the best goal keeper in the world right now. He says that there isn't a keeper on the planet that can do what he does regularly. As for straight up shot stopping, he says that De Gea is great, but if you watch closely, the majority of the saves he makes require very little work by him. Part of that is positioning, part of it is defensive tactics, and part of it is that the opposing teams generally kick it right to him. He says that if there is one thing that gets in his way it is that he tends to be a bit overly aggressive and that puts him out of position more than he would like to see, but then again you are willing to give up the odd goal for all that he brings to the side. He made the comment that if soccer gave assists like they do in hockey, he'd have 15 assists right now. I think that might be a bit high, but I understand his point. A lot of times his passing sets up somebody to make an easy pass for a goal. He also says that Ederson is so good with his feet that defenders don't even try to pressure him when he has the ball because he can make them look silly and then turn that high press into goals on the other end of the pitch.

Hart was an absolute colossus for us.

But if Ederson is here for a couple
More years, it’s him.

Look at the difference in Pep’s first and second seasons and what changed in the team. It was the full backs to a lesser degree, and the goalkeeper. Pep knew what he wanted to do in the first season, and Bravo wasn’t good enough to carry it out. As soon as Ederson came in, teams by and large (Liverpool is an exception) stopped trying the high press because it was pointless. In the first season, almost everyone did it and had a degree of success with it

Bang on that, Ederson is unique.. If in the next game he slips up with his cool passes at an attackers feet and lets a goal in, for what he has done for the last two years it wont be a bad thing. To take the risks he does which often carve open the opposition, there are going to be the odd failures. Winners take that risk.

You watch the guy lay on a 60 or 70 yard pass, got to be one of the best at this type of pass at speed in the league even of any out field player.. What keeper has ever been able to kick the ball as far and accurate out of one hand, seems to put a swerve on the ball that you rarely see, needs to practice free kicks, he would be better than ronaldo !

Yep he was good still awaiting one won more Golden Gloves in the Premier League "dumped by managers or not"
Golden gloves mean sweet F.A.

Put De Gea in the Fulham net and he won't get near the golden glove despite being arguably the best in the world. Yet put Karius behind Juventus' defence and it'll be clean sheets galore. The majority of goals a team concedes are ones the goalkeeper can do very little about and so the award tells you very little about a goalkeeper.

Some people have short memories, Ederson is outstanding and I love him but in terms of keeper of the DECADE, Super Joe gets the nod all day long, brilliant for City, how many other keepers on the planet, has the greatest footballer on earth described as a phenomenon.. I'm resting my case right there, Messi knows his shit....

Poor analogy its like saying golden boot means nothing because winner couldn't do it without rest of the team around him,the fact is he's won it four times which is more than De Gea who's also spent his time in a reasonably good side. Hart had several very good seasons at the club and if you watch the video on this thread he had a real feeling for the club.

Joe hart for me who was immense for a consistent period of time. Vital player for getting us to where we are today.
