Pelle bugged him up in his post-match comments, and not just for his goals...FOR HIS WORK RATE AND DEFENSIVE EFFORTS!

Played like a "complete striker" tonight, for the first time in a long time. Occasionally found himself walking, then realized he had someone or space to cover and got on his bike. Excellent all around performance from a striker who, by minute 56, had scored twice but STILL kept working.

Well done, Edin! If we could get a decent first touch off you 90% of the time, you would be hero worshipped. Oh, and no more 40 yard cross field "passes" through the center circle when the midfield is attacking, please! You did well to recover and defend, but it knackers out the lads in our very attacking midfield covering 10-12K every game! Cheers!

I'm one of the first to give Dzeko some abuse when he puts in one of his poor performances so it's only fair that I praise him for his good performance tonight. He took his goals well and he gave Ferdinand a hard time by actually using his size and strength to challenge for headers etc. Very good display.

If you followed him in national team matches you would see the same thing. He is capable of destroying Belgium, France, Greece and countless other nations during qualifying with ease and then for no reason would turn into the worst player on the pitch a week later against much weaker competition. He seems to of turned a corner, he's put in quite a few poor performances since new year but the majority of the time now he realises he has to work hard for the team, you can't just mope around and pick up a goal late on and expect to take the plaudits.

I'm not entirely against a new contract at this point, he's got a 10 game audition coming up and he's going into it on the back of 2 really good performances. Good news for Bosnia at the WC too.

This is what I think he was always capable of. I know I've had disagreements with people on this thread, and honestly over time I think all of you mofos had some good points. No hard feelings, I just want to see this team do well. Aguero is world class, and Beast is freaking awesome. But Edin brings something different to the table and I love watching him play as awkward as he looks.

Some say he's our "3rd choice striker", which I tend to disagree.

In terms of current form, he's a much better option than Negredo. I find that both him and Negredo have the same level of inconsistency, but Dzeko has a greater knack for scoring, which is much more important.

Dzeko is better in awaymatches and as a sub coming on.
Negredo is better in homematches and as a starter.
Football is no sience.

Very good performance. And more pleasingly, for me, a determined and hard edged attitude on the pitch! (Hasn't always been the case).

For me, he never sulks, even when he was our third choice striker. Has played well in the last few games when we needed him and last nigh I thought he was excellent.

He has really thrived in these games where it's been down to him. He had an outstanding game last night and for someone who is really our 2nd/3rd striker, I don't see any reason to sell him because who can we get that is better at coming in and getting goals when it is needed but is prepared to accept that he might be behind Aguero in the pecking order. His second goal was quality and he was again in the right place at the right time for the first. I think Pellegrini only brought him off because he wanted Negredo to maybe get a chance of a goal because he really needs it.

That was Edin's best performance this season, he scored twice AND had an outstanding work rate. I hope he keep up that level of performance to help ManCity win another title.

It's even rained all night and day in Dubai to make me feel less homesick on this happy day. 6 points against the rags, decent in the CL, a trophy and an honourable fight to win the league, whether we do it or not. I was expecting a performance like that from Dzeko, I just had a feeling he would get a few opportunities in the box and he is often in the right place to pick up scraps. Glad to see him score, he was thrilled to score against Hull and you could see how much that meant to him, he knew it was important for both him and for the club to tie the game up. Last night he was exceptional, we needed an early goal and he managed to find a lot of space and capitalised. Is often very effective away from home and based on his form he needs to play against Arsenal - I feel like we will be able to find a lot of space and time in midfield, Arsenal seem like they are shot and whilst usually we may need a hold up player and Negredo therefore makes sense, Dzeko when on form has everything going for him - his touch is improved, his work rate improved and he will be confident enough to go for goal.
