Edin Dzeko (contract update page 370)

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Felt for him today, considering Aguero has just come back from an injury I didn't expect him to get the full game or almost. I love Mancini and wouldn't really want anyone else but he makes some strange decisions. Silva couldn't pass water today and gets the full 90 and yet on other weeks when he's looking more in form he's subbed. And Tevez should always start in these big games.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

great effort from Ed today and getting better with games as you'd expect

should not have been taken off

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

He had a decent game, held the ball up, but not many opportunities to shoot due to poor midfield play. I thought he looked tired in the second half, which may be why he was substituted.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Was impressed he played very well, held up play and fought for the ball. Poor decision to take him off. I knew at 40 min Aguero was unfit. Not too upset thought as glad that we got a draw hope he starts next game. Quality player.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

He was proper chuffed with the fans, it was written all over his face.

give and take

more to come from him, easy worth 2 a.carrolls

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Edin and Zabaleta were City's best players today, and it is really wierd sub from Mancini who kept Silva and Aguero on the pitch.

Our best player today, Aguero should have come off for Tevez.

A very poor day for Mancini, it's as if he likes alienating our team... ridiculous substitution.

Agree that this was a game Tevez should have been first on the team sheet.

Agree. Thought Dzeko might have been our best player today, did well to hold up the ball, made incisive passes, intelligent runs, and even made a few tackles. Should've started the game with Tevez and Dzeko -- it's a bit risky to give a player that just came from injury a start and nearly 90 minutes at that.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

I agree with the general sentiment, he was the best out of the three up front and then got subbed off. I get the idea of keeping Silva on (being the only true creative midfielder we had to offer) but he was woeful and I can't remember him ever giving the ball away so much.

I just don't understand the reasoning behind the sub.

I didn't get it either.

However, things would have been different if Silva pushed the ball to whomever was in the better position to score - rather than to Aguero no matter where Dzeko is.

I have a feeling that if Dzeko was on the goal line itself and Aguero was outside of the box, Silva would still pass to Aguero.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

No, he's far from legend.
If city wins a couple of titles in the next 2-3 years, then every single player of our last year's squad may become one :) The new ones have still to prove them worthy.

But in current form, if given enough time on the pitch, I'm sure he would build on that status. The equilizer against QPR made a good base for it. And this year will be very important, as Roberto would say it. I'm one of Edin's biggest fans, but I would like him to stay with city and prove his quality here.

As I don't have rights to create threats on my own, some thoughts about Bosnian fans discussions here:
Guys, if you still didn't realize it, you're becoming a damn famous football club ;) Be prepared for it that some kind of migration will happen now and then, let' say when you sign a player from some country comparable to Bosnia. They'll come for some reason, many of them will go when that reason is gone, but some of them will stay. And those may become true city fans. Could be of vital importance when we're playing CL.

And I can imagine, it's hard for the British to really understand us and our madness for Dzeko. In your history, you had so many world known personalities, enough to be Idols for generations. And how many Bosnians do you know, beside other players? Edin is really a complete personality one can identify with. Our recent history is rather bloody (don't want to talk about the bloody part of Br. history), and Edin is a light that shines. Our Diamond. It's hard to understand :)

Nice post, kara 54. Hopefully you will be one of those who stay. Be lucky.

Hopefully, Dzeko will be one of those who stay. However, unless Mancio is shown the door, I think there is no chance for Edin at City. Bobby has never forgiven him for Munich last season, and will never give Edin the game time and respect he deserves. Isn't this PAINFULLY obvious?

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

I hope the lad gets a spell of games, been great for city. Never doubted his loyalty to the club and shows great patience. The guy is class but not a legend yet

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Definitely on his way to being a legend. Even if the boss only gives him 5 mins he will score.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Schwarzer didn't even sniff that today. He does score important goals and those are worth the wait and worth their weight.
