Today was a great example of the inconsistent nature that has hindered his career with us. His general hold up play was lacking and for a while it seemed it wasn't going to be his day. The goal was an absolute peach though and we know he's got that in his locker. Hopefully another couple of goals at Hull next week will keep him on a high and we'll see him at his best.
This comment would only make sense if the whole team played well and only he didn't. But they were all crap.

Again I ask: how can strikers be brilliant for the whole game if the midfield is horrid and offers nothing?

Prefer to see Negredo in

Sell Dzeko. Can't be trusted to out a shift in

But can usually be trusted to score goals regularly which I am guessing he was bought to do.

Dzeko merits or otherwise are up for debate but of far more importance is our one paced mid field, lack of decent cover at centre half and a keeper starting to gift soft goals.

It makes sense as this is a Dzeko thread, all about Dzeko. I've used other threads to talk about the rest of the teams poor showing, so next time you feel the need to defend somebody who isn't even being slagged off read the comments in context.

Watched him against Newcastle and I was a little surprised to read and hear everyone saying how well he played. Ok so he improved on last season a little and put some effort in but I thought in general against Newcastle and again today he's too easily pushed off the ball and when he has it at his feet seems to be prancing around as if he's got all the time in the world. Great strike for his goal but from behind the goal it looked as though it was going wide but for the deflection. Hope I'm wrong but I don't think he's the man to lead our front line over the next few seasons. Negredo already looks a far better option to me. He seems to want to get onto the end of things and is prepared to throw some muscle around upfront.

We're all discussing our unbiased impressions of a City player and how they played today, but I'm sure someone called BosnianDiamond is in the perfect position to objectively tell us how his favourite player ever played today.

ARGH!!!!!

Has a blinder against Newcastle, displays everything that a £27m striker should be doing. Doesn't score.

Plays today and plays how he did last season but then scores a cracking goal that gave us the lead and could have led to the 3 points!

Incredibly frustrating!
