Tevez is in such a great form this season - we surely dont need that donkey...all he does is score goals anyway.

C'mon, keep this shit up - it is really amusing between games :-)
Not sure why some blues stand firm on Dzeko !! For a bloke of his size to be bullied on the pitch is a joke, Iv enjoyed his goals but other than a goal every other game his build up play he's first 3 touches and his work rate need to improve.
Yep he's scored a fair few goals but so he should in that team and with that massive price tag. Carlos edin an sergio have been off this season but for me its Tevez an sergio all day long as edin Cant link up play or hold the ball up.
We all have opinions an mine like many is that edins a nice bloke an helped win us the title but its time to lets go of the heart strings and admit he's poor

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Dzeko is a centerforward, which means his duties DO NOT include linkup play, because linkup implies moving the ball foward, and a centerforward is the LAST PLAYER in the link. Therefore, Dzeko should ideally have nobody to link the ball to. He is the last link. He should just receive the ball and score and not LINKUP. And score is exactly what Dzeko does, which is why he is our best centerforward because HE DOES HIS JOB. His job, as a centerfoward, is to score - not linkup - it is others leading up to him who should link up to him - he is the last player and he does not have anyone to link up to - he should score. These are football fundamentals - it is shocking that some blokes here don't know this.

In conclusion, since Dzeko is our most efficient goal-scorer, he is the best centerforward we have - by definition of the position. He does his job, and people who talk about "linkup" play obviously don't know that in football the centerforward does not linkup, he scores. Because if they did know better they wouldn't blabber about it.

That is as stupid and illogical as criticizing Hart because he never assists for a goal or because Hart never scores. Some people here have a fundamental misunderstanding of the game.

We should feel blessed that Mancini has finally realized that his best goal-scorer was sitting on the bench for 2 years. Had Dzeko started regularly since the beginning of the year, he'd be at 20 goals by now. Just do the math and see his goals per minute.

Though THIS perfectly sums up the FOOTBALL side of our current set up - you shouldnt even bother as you will not get through to anyone here...

You will soon realize that there is not much football knowledge or REASON going around on this particular thread...best thing to do is just stay neutral.

Let me lay out this non-statistical (rather contextual) fact for you:

Edin Dzeko is a significant contributor and now a regular starter on EPL champion of last year, current EPL runner-up, and one of the best teams in the world.

So just think about the bolded part of YOUR statement for a second.

You can say he is not technically sound or this or that - and that's ok. But based on simple facts above - saying he is terrible/poor/donkey...I'm sorry but that kind of statement just makes perpetrator an utter idiot IMO.

People on here call themselves fans yet by proclaiming Edin "terrible" they indirectly shit on Mancini's current decision to rely on him, they shit on entire City management for keeping him around and slapping a huge price-tag on him, and shit on Tevez especially for being outplayed by "donkey"...

People just need to put things in perspective, that's all....

Again with the, "knock another player, to big up our boy".

I would start Tevez every day of the week instead of Dzeko, and i was a "never want to see Tevez in a City shirt again" poster.

Tevez gives his all, every game, that is why he has the respect he has at City (even if he did fuck up).

Dzeko more often than not, strolls around the pitch, looking pissed off more than Mario did, unless it is put on a plate for him, he is next to fucking useless.
But no!, it is all the other players snubbing him and trying to make him look bad. FFS!

This, in bold just shows your perspective on football (or lack thereof).

Because you expect Dzeko with his 6'2 200 lbs frame to run around like a midget Tevez?? You kidding?

They are different players, each specific in what they bring to the table - but you obviously dont understand that. And therefore discussing FOOTBALL with people like you is pointless.

Since you really cant compare them directly, you go by production - and Tevez's production this year is what - 3 goals from open play the entire season? GTFO.

Seriously...

I keep telling myself "not worth it", then you come back to see what's up, then you find some stupid shit that you really cannot stay indefferent to :-)

But no more.

If we need a CF that doesn't contribute that's juts a finisher why haven't we got Inzaghi out of retirement or get Huntelaar or van Horseface in? Why does Dzeko constantly drift out wide if he's meant to be just a finisher and the forwardmost player in our team?

That post is utter bollocks. Our game is all about fluidity between the front players which means they all have to be able to link with each other. It's something that Dzeko is capable of imo, he just doesn't show it enough.

The problem for me with your post is that while it all sounds great on paper it hasn't been working and we have needed another alternative i.e Dzeko. While he may not play as you and others like to see, you cannot say he hasn't been effective. Personally I feel the goals are more important than how they go in.
