Empty seats.. worsening trend?

Can I give my situation and see what you think of it?

Me my dad and brother, 3 season tickets since Maine road, 3 year ago at renewal stage my dad getting older can't afford to renew or can't commit to every game, and my brother 28 married just bought house also can't afford it. The thought of my dad missing the good years after paying for me and my brother as kids breaks your heart, and wether you like it or not, when the big games come round I can guarantee them a seat to see us lift the trophies so I took on all 3 season cards, and mix it about, I let my dad and brother have first refusal on the games, or I take my gf, or take my pals. But there have been games where no one can make it and not just for the poor teams! Last year I had spares for United and arsenal, this year Chelsea, obviously no problems selling these. But I really have struggled selling tickets this year and well under face value, I had no takers for Stoke, palace, Everton and Swansea, and went as low as 20quid. Listed them on here or the twitter exchange or Facebook site. My singles never sell on viagogo and I list them as low as it lets you.

Should I be giving these season cards up in your opinion?

No problem as long as you family and friends are taking up the seats for most games. The concerns are seats that are left empty for several games including complimentaries dished out by the Club!

Also, I don't blame people not wanting to buy your single tickets or for games against Stoke etc. I have been given spares for the Sunderland game (for friends / family) but forked out £100 for 2 extra tickets for Burnley (it's swings and roundabouts!

I have taken about an extra 20 people to games so far this season including the CL so I will have paid out double the cost of my season this year. This is sometimes to get other people interested in City. The least the Club could do is ensure their Complementaries go to people who want to see the game!

Trying to buy tickets on the site for the upcoming FA cup game on my mobile and it's pretty much impossible. Every time I try and enter my quantities of tickets in the box it takes it back to Zero. So maybe that's why we have empty seats, because buying tickets is frikkin impossible !!!

I gave up trying

Hi Bob. The ticket booking is very hot and miss on a mobile and the Club should sort this out. It always works for me when I book on a laptop or PC!

Absolutely nothing wrong with what you are doing IMO.
No problem at all if anything by selling your tickets at less than face value you are giving other blues the chance to attend a game they couldn't afford normally
The only thing I could add if you are trying to run 3 cards and arnt to fussed where you sit would you be as well trying for 3 of the £299 tickets

Empty seats is all they have left to bait us with and it's rubbish

Take a look at Old Trafford or the Emirates next time they play. You'll see the odd pocket of empty seats all over.

Hi Marvin. I think your point about the rags and le Arse is a bit of a red herring.
The real issues that have been raised on here include:
A) people are told seats are sold out when theybarebtrying intake their families to games. Then Blues see the game on TV and there are empty groups of seats.
B) the Club give complimentary tickets to people who only turn up for the very big games. These are in good locations in the Family Stand.
C) More could be done to help people to sell on tickets without using Vianogo.

I don't why some of the more established posters don't like these issues being discussed (unless theybarebtrying renege one who can't take rag empty seat banter?) For me it's a bit like the political parties who derided anyone who mentioned immigration for years and they they get UKIP taking their Council / Westminster seats.

Asked the point earlier in the thread buy do city just give comps to academy parents etc for each game or do they have to request them if they want to go ? I guess if you havnt paid for your tickets there isn't much incentive to try to pass them on ?

1% of 37,000 = 370. 2% seasoncard no shows = 740. When you have anti-social Kick Offs - a significant number of fans wont be able to go.

You can't really make much impression on that. Look at the Emirates and Old Trafford, they have exactly the same problem. I doubt their supporters get so worked up about it.

Not sure if this has been mentioned and I missed it but I saw a message at the last match which said everyone attending today would get an extra 20 points. I presume they will do that by checking the electronic info at the turnstile.

Great idea and if done regularly that will help stop those that buy a season ticket just for the 'big' games.

I thought that said CITYZENS points not LOYALTY points?

Whose getting so worked up. Most people who have contributed to this thread are looking for solutions.

Also, yes this is a bigger issue to me than Yokahama or New York or Melbourne City so have you tried getting people to stop discussing those Clubs?

Also, the Rags aren't a great comparator because they have a long history of shocking ticket management. I have just read the autobiography of Jimmy the Weed, of the Quality Street Gang. for example, Jimmy used to get hold of many hundreds of tickets from the rags (to sell on at many times face value) whenever they got to Wembley
