England v Croatia | Euro 2020 Group Stage

Whenever I watch England recently I can’t help but think what a decent manager could do with this squad.

Not a great performance but very impressed with the young Leeds lad.

Hopefully we'll get a decent manager to manage this quality squad at the WC.

I actually think Southgate has some good qualities to bring to the team, but definitely not as a manager, he's been way promoted beyond his capabilities.
He got us to the semis of the wc, what capabilities has he been promoted beyond?

I think he's doing a decent job. We're playing some good stuff at timrs, there's even City style in their, we 've become a model to follow.. But he's doing it well, England are capable of getting to the semi's and Southgate , well who would do better? Besides Pep?

Well done Gareth Southgate, he got it spot on today tactically, his substitutions were well timed and we played with a smile and a certain amount of freedom.
Agree Rascal, Croatia are a hard team to beat, especially when he's had zero prep with Chelsea and City lads in the warm up games.
And that heat.
We had 2 Aussies on the touchline reporting at HT, they were asking to go in the shade it was that hot and humid.
Imagine running around in that for 90.
The way some English are treating the team and manager on social media is disgusting.
Must make their job ten times harder.

Absolute bollocks of a statement.

Ming's, Stones, Pickford, Trippier, Sterling ....did very well in that heat.
I think they all did pretty well. A few errors here and there from Walker, Kane didn’t have his best day etc, but the team ethic and unit was solid.

Pickford though. He makes me nervous. He’s picked for his distribution. He can’t distribute. Stones was berating him constantly in the first half as he destroyed our build up when trying short and booted it out of play when going long.

He also is as nervous as a kitten and every time he moves towards the ball, it isn’t in a confident fashion. This can’t be good for the guys in front of him.

Pickford is definitely the weak link in the squad, his distribution is terrible, and he doesn't give any confidence to the defence.

Since his breakthrough season at Sunderland, where he was fucking busy and made some decent saves, has he ever done anything to justify him being England’s keeper?

Henderson/Johnstone are far better options. They don’t seem addicted to Red Bull.

To be fair Beanie could have got us to the semi-finals of that competition, we had such a nice path and we nearly messed it up.

A late injury-time winner after a dismal performance against Tunisia, an easy victory over Panama followed by our understrength team being outclassed by Belgium's understrength team.

We went through on penalties against Colombia, the winners of the poorest group, followed by a favourable quarter-final v Sweden (the easiest opposition in the quarters).

The first decent opposition we came up against we lost, had we had a better tactician we may have even won the game.

Not Southgate's fault, he steadied the ship but should he leave his England role he'll be lucky to land a job in the Championship.
