England wasting one of the most talented squads ever assembled on Southgate

What a weird thread to post just after England won 7-0. His record is semi-final, final and quarter-final. 'Only France have more depth currently.' Well that's who knocked us out in the last tournament.

He didn't scrape through the group stages with draws to USA and Algeria and then lose every knockout game he ever appeared in like 'experienced world-class manager' Fabio Capello. He didn't fail to qualify with a squad including Campbell, Ferdinand, Terry, Neville, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Owen, Rooney. He got to the final with Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount. The idea that this is some sort of all-time great England squad is bollocks. You just think it's great because it's got more City players in it. I've always said, after years of underachievement, I'll settle for an England team that does about as well as you'd expect it to. And I think they've done that in the last three tournaments.

Embarrassing thread for self entitled anti England fans that only really care about there own teams players being picked and don’t want England to succeed.

Southgate has one of the highest win percentages, took us to final of the Euros only losing on penalties and to a World Cup semi final - he has achieved far more than pretty much every manager since Alf Ramsey.

Going into the tournaments he has picked one of the youngest squads and starting line ups in the world, has managed to keep the unity and team spirit within the camp and has cemented himself as Englands manager after our performances at tournaments.

The reality is no England manager will ever please , it’s a massive ask to win a major tournament but even if we did , whoever is the manager will still get criticised, that’s the reality of modern day internet fans - all crying, whinging and moaning constantly mainly because they have a gripe against certain players being picked.

I like Southgate having the courage of his convictions to play the team he believes will progress, that courage has been missing.

However, he is so far off the standard needed to challenge for international honours. The fact that no club side has tried to poach him knows that those in football know he hasn’t got a scooby of how to bring all this talent together.

It.is actually very clear., he hasn't got a Scooby.very well said.

I always feel that the qualification stage does England no favours. The current one is typical - clearly better than the rest. They sail through the group without any real challenge or difficulty. The tournament final stages are the problem. Southgate does not know if his selection will be up to beating the opposition in those knock out matches.
He does tend to stick with his tried and tested even in such one-sided matches like Malta and North Macedonia. What on earth was learned in those two matches??

The old coefficient’s & seeding trick which takes us through the qualifiers & into the quarters.

Excuse me? He learned the Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best deep-lying playmaker since Pirlo, I'll have you know.

The sooner the dullard fucker is replaced the better.

I guess we are spoiled watching our 11 week in/week out under the tutorage of a genius.....but,he's miles off.......he has driven fans away from the International scene with his lack of invention and safe unimaginative approach.....he's as beige as it gets.

We don't beat teams we aren't expected to,he lacks the invention and creativity to manage such.

Yet he will leave the England job after winning Jack shit saying he’s taken the squad as far as he can receive a knighthood from the king. So boringly predictable. Not even a league one team should be daft enough to employ him
