Erling Haaland

FWIW, someone I know at the club told me today that we’re “going all out” for Haaland this summer. Hope he’s right. Also said that we’re definitely activating the Douglas Luiz buy-back option.
Hope this is true. Actually this scenario makes the most sense IMO. Haaland will cost us a bomb, which leaves us getting cheaper options to replace Dinho, and Douglas Luiz's buy-back makes the most sense.

The two stumbling blocks I see with this deal are:

1. Raiola -will the club deal with a man who has called Pep a "dog" in the past and with a man who has such a reputation for causing trouble behind the scenes with his players at clubs....you just know that If e got Haaland in 3 years time Raiola will be trying to get him a deal to Madrid, Bayern etc......our club wants players who are 110% committed and Raiiola's clients tend to have their heads turned by him on a regular basis.

2. The bidding war that will happen - we have shown in the past we have evaluations on players and wont go beyond this really. Other clubs will (Utd, Chelsea, Madrid, PSG)....and when the bidding war happens other clubs will simply go beyond what we are willing to pay in terms of transfer fee, wages and agents fees.

Of course there are a lot of attractions for Haaland to us....His dad playing for us, Playing in team that challenges for everything, style of play, playing for Pep and of course he will be very well paid

Raiola isn't a stumbling block when Alfie is his dad.

There will be no bidding war. Haaland won't go to the highest bidder, he'll choose his next club and that club will negotiate with Dortmund.

you dont think that he would be possibly swayed by higher wages?
What about payment incentives to both Raiola and his dad in terms of fees?

Other clubs will offer those....will we?

You seem very confident and have done prior to this...I do hope you are right

He'll be on huge wages. His agent and Alfie will get a big commission too.

Barcelona and Madrid can't sign him this summer because of their financial problems. That leaves England. In England the choices will be United, Chelsea, City.

If you think there's any danger of him choosing one of the other two, fair enough. I think there's no chance he goes to United and even less chance he goes to Chelsea. It's either City or he stays at Dortmund this summer.

To be fair to Raiola, he gets players a move if they want to. Plenty of his clients don't move e.g. Veratti. Raiola takes all the shit from the press etc to get a player the move they want.

We have a few advantages that other clubs don't in terms of negotiation e.g. Sancho, Braaf and other youth players, which could definitely go in our favor. The bidding war will be interesting only if Haaland is open to other teams, if we can convince him and he says to Dortmund we are the only team then it becomes a lot more straight forward.

Apparently United won’t be going for Sancho in the summer due to the need to strengthen other positions. If Dortmund need money then maybe it makes it easier for us to go for Haaland
