It wouldn’t have mattered if we signed Grealish or not. We were never paying Spurs £150m for Kane.
I don't know why this is still being thrown around as the reason why we didn't sign Kane. We didn't refuse to pay what they wanted, Levy flat out refused to even entertain the idea of selling him. Pep himself has said we couldn't even open negotiations with him. Nothing to do with us not be willing to pay.

It was being reported that Spurs were asking for £150m. Just because he wasn’t negotiating doesn’t mean there wasn’t a price.

Reported by the same people that said we had put in multiple bids and that Kane to city was done? Listen to Peps press conference we couldn't even talk with levy about a price because he had no intention of selling.

Either way we're pretty much screwed here. If Madrid and PSG come to an agreement for Mbappe, PSG will show more intent and be more aggressive than us for Haaland. If Madrid get Mbappe for free, they'll also show more intent and aggression than us. And if both do not happen, Bayern Munich will show more intent and aggression than us.

This 100%. We are far, far too soft when it comes to transfers and don’t seem to want to compete with any of the other big boys! Pathetic.

Yep. We aint getting top striker in any time soon.

Read between the lines and Levy wanted somewhere between £150m and £200m and City wanted to pay £80m to £120m. While anywhere between £30m and £120m doesn't sound like a lot it's still, in city's eyes, 1-3 very good players in addition to the player in question..

A decade ago it would have been less of a long term problem but there’s a real shortage of top level strikers around at the moment. And your right, I’ve said many times today there’s absolutely no chance that our incompetent recruitment department get a deal for Haaland done even with a release clause.

They totally fucked up 2 summers ago and last summer they got lucky that their 3rd/4th choice CB target ended up becoming one of the best centre half’s in the world.

I was one of those that was genuinely confident about Haaland. Everything was in our favour; a future Balon D'Or winner who had links to City in a position we desperately need. But the successive failures to bring any major star in highlights we lack what it takes. You constantly see these big clubs unsettle rival players, be aggressive in their pursuits and pretty much always land their man. We're seemingly obsessed with public perception when nobody will ever like us.

I dont think it matters what we offer Dortmund or what they would be willing to accept….

If we want Haaland we have to fill raiola‘s pockets and make Haaland one of, if not the highest paid player in world football. Right now, Debruyne is our highest earner.. I just dont see us paying Haaland Double or more than what we pay DeBruyne

We’d have paid 100m/120m though. So if we’d have got both you’re talking about 220m plus two lots of wages. For 140/150m we could have got the player we actually needed desperately out of the 2. Big fan of Grealish but should of been a cherry on the cake signing not the first and only bloody one.

Preach, I have absolutely lost faith we can battle anyone for a world class player's signature for the foreseeable future. Hopefully Delap is a hidden gem that will shine with the opportunity he looks to be getting.
