Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

We’ve been in our current seats about 7 seasons now and although we see the same faces every game it’s difficult to build any sort kinship with these fellow blues as the pre-match / half time cheese makes it such hard work to even talk. (It’s like being at a party where you want to catch up with people but the music is too loud)! Everyone sits or stands there twiddling their thumbs. This has a knock on effect then, that no one can then be bothered to sing once the match starts. Turn off the music 10 mins before kick off; may take a few games but it can only help the atmosphere surely!

Remember this ridiculous idea from about 10 years ago? As laughable as it was, the club had one thing right - the noise needed and still needs to be spread. Instead of “stand leaders” leaders though, it might have worked if they had organised for groups of singers to be located in a block or two in each stand.

Guessing here.

Was it Wolves at home a few seasons ago when the Poznan went around the whole stadium for the first time? Stand corrected on that. Nevertheless, it looked f*cking amazing.

To this day we’re the only set of fans in England who are credited by other fans for doing the Poznan. Celtic do the huddle.

The Poznan against the Rags at Wembley was absolutely epic. The Rags just stood in silence watching it. It changed the game in my opinion. It galvanised the City players, and spooked the United players.
The poznan against the rags I the semi was a game changer, for nearly 40 years they lorded over us, this was OUR TIME and the fans knew it...

Don’t expect the Etihad to be bouncing when the ball is being passed around our own box…

When the team is up for it so are the fans simple. Supporters need to get behind the team of course but it’s on the players to put on a performance/effort worth shouting about
Bang on. Whilst the football we play is technically brilliant for the majority of the time it just isn’t exciting to watch. Constant backwards and sideways passing to keep possession doesn’t get you out of your seat and we play that way for the majority of each game. It may be footballing perfection but it can be frustrating for the fans. As you say the fans in the stadium feed off what is happening on the pitch.

Not complaining just saying how it is. Pep’s football doesn’t get you out of your seat for a large chunk of the game. Recycling the ball backwards and sideways to constantly retain possession doesn’t give the fans in the stadium a lot to shout about so that is a contributing factor to why the atmosphere is flat for a lot of the time at our stadium.
