Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

The guard of honour was something I’d expect to see in the Bundesliga: manufactured bollocks. Guards of honour are (rightly) reserved for teams / people that win things. If/ when Erling picks up a trophy , then we can have all the tunnel shite we had tonight. Reminded me of when Klopp made Liverpool do that bowing / holding hands shite he’d been used to doing at Dortmund. They’d got a last minute equaliser at home to Bournemouth; Milner standing perplexed wondering why they were doing it. Same for me tonight. I’ll cheer him if / when we win something. And I also hate the fact the pre premier league records seem to be totally forgotten. If he’d beaten Dixie Dean’s record, fair fucks. He’s only just over half way. Embarrassing.
Sorry to disagree with you on a number of your points. Clapping him off was a clear demonstration of the unity within the club and the respect that they all have for each other. Cannot understand why you feel embarrassed.

Who gives a damn whether it was a guard of honour or not ? Can’t you just accept it for what it was? His teammates choosing to recognize his goal scoring feats in public. Most premier league goals ever in a season and we’re not even done yet. Thought it was brilliant myself and shows how together the team is right now.
Absolutely spot on. Can't see why anyone would have an issue with it. Shows a great connection across the squad. The things they mention between the fans and manager and/or players are exactly the same. We need more of it, not less..

I was going to go early as I’m up at 3:45am for work. But I decided to stay along with many in SSL1 who carried on singing until the final whistle.
Very admirable. Top fan.
With me I need to be on the ball when I turn up at work as I do a safety critical job in public transport. I could have just sacked the whole game off and watched on TV but instead I turned up, sang a bit but promised myself I’d be in bed by 1130. That is all.

Just accept it Dave.

Nothing against you, but you’ve spent all season flogging this clapping guff to death, and it’s had no effect on the terraces. Whether you like it or not the fans want to sing the new chants, that includes clapping and making different noises.

As for me, I’ll sing anything, old and new, which does happen in most home games.

One thing I did notice tonight. It took the South stand
2 stand up for the champions chants to get the rest of the ground standing, joining in and singing along. The first chnat was totally ignored by the rest of the ground. There was no clapping involved in either attempt.
I’m not sure that first bit is true. There have been games where the clapping chants get going over in SSL1 and it’s sucked the life out of the atmosphere around the rest of the stadium.

A lot of people don’t know the chants around the rest of the ground so don’t join in. Even when people in some areas (like myself) try to join in with them, it’s hard because they’re often very quiet in parts or too fast or they’re sung over by fans in another area so you don’t know if SSL1 have stopped singing them sometimes so even people trying to join in, stop.

If we just try and sing all those chants at Wembley, we are going to have a terrible atmosphere!

I only heard SUFTC once (just coincided with when we took Aké off). Didn’t hear it another time. It wasn’t ignored, we just didn’t hear it. But that might have been because SSL3 or 118 who were good in the second half last night could have been singing more loudly at that point.

About half way through the second half this genuinely happened: 115 were singing at the same time as 109-111, 117-119, SSL3 and West Ham and each area was either singing a different song or the same song but a different part to what another section was singing and at a different pace and different note. I think that’s the most extreme of that kind of jumbled atmosphere we tend to have that I’ve ever heard. Each area was loving it and it was dead loud and I bet in each area you didn’t know that was going on in the others. But there’s no way the rest of the stadium can pin themselves to anything so we just leave you to it at those points.

You’ll be surprised sometimes how quiet you sound over there in 115. You might well all be bouncing around and enjoying yourselves but to the rest of the ground it’s not always entirely audible and a lot of these clappy songs all sound the same, they’re all the same pace and dead quiet in parts so sometimes we don’t hear you. I’ve seen it said a few times now that 115 has tried SUFTC and it’s been ignored yet I’ve not remembered hearing it.

I do think we’ve had a cracking atmosphere in 2022 and 2023 (apart January and February this year)… but we could easily be much better still if we sang more of proper City chants (they aren’t ‘old’ chants, they’re our proper chants!) and when they are, that’s when we have our best atmospheres.

I will probably trawl through the pages with hope BUT did anyone get a video clip of the player and staff corridor they made for Erling. I saw it at the end of game review on the OS web site at the end of the game but would really like to add a clip to my extensive video collection of "not in the game incidents, eg parades, etc."

Whilst we’re enjoying ourselves you can go fuck yourself.

Smells .....raggish !!

Kicking off in block 219 between three or four City blokes for five minutes or so.

Fists flying and a couple of elder women caught up in it.

Stewards waiting for proper security to get involved and truly pathetic.

Saw someone spit at another during it.

Fucking hell. It was worse than I thought.

Latest video “record breaker”
