Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

Our stadium acoustics certainly dont help but im yet to go to an away game and think wow their atmosphere was amazing (barring Celtic and a few others in Europe)

Im in SS3 literally 1 seat from the away fans and our block and the one next to it (314 and 315) id say is decent for songs getting started the only issue is getting the rest of SS3 to join in, when they do the songs carry to the rest of the ground and are loud, the main issue is weve not a clue what is getting sung in SS1 and very little of whats getting sung in the Kippax corner.

You're always going to be fighting a difficult fight right next to the away fans as we all know from going away with City most of their end is going to join in with songs.

Having said that I dont think Pep was wrong in anything he said we have become complacent. Having said that English atmospheres always have, and always will be, dictated by whats happening on the pitch we'll never have constant 90 minute chanting orchestrated by a bloke with a loud hailer. Hopefully enough people who will contribute to the atmosphere see it as a kick up the arse and we get it going because it 'could' be the difference between a title charge and a damp squib ending to the season

Starting a chant in the stand before the game? Think again. Speaker volume: audible in Oldham. Just as you get it going, queue a rising blue moon graphic.

Halftime chants in the stand? Organic chanting must await the video to end.

Or, like East tier 3, start singing a chant and trail off after one line.

Sometimes it is difficult. The reaction to the game and tempo is what has always got us going. Pep ought to play highlights of the Hamburg UEFA Cup 2nd leg, other loud games, Maine Road moments and challenge the team to get the fans going time and time again. It works both ways. Tepid Steve McManaman sideways and backwards until a counterattack exposes our shortcomings will only ignite so many cheers.

I am in ES3 and most of us will follow a chant but the problem being we all know the well known ones; blue moon, invisible man, viking etc . The newer ones we can’t hear and don't know the words eg Bernado. It is impossible to make out the words so don't follow.

The problem has always been placing the singing fans where they are. A small section in a corner of the ground is worse than an away section on 3 levels all of whom are making a noise.

Acoustics, light show, ticket prices, tourists, not having one end, corporate seats plus many more. All lame excuses.

The reason the atmosphere is shite is quite simple. 3 sides of the stadium sit in complete silence every match.

Rather than calling out fans, Pep should pay a visit to the yuppy office goons who decided to charge £67 for an adult ticket today and give them a "talking to".

That for me is the root cause for last night's atmosphere.
I suppose you have a point in that we can’t hear the fans who didn’t come because of the ticket price. (Yep - sarcasm the lowest form of wit)

BUT having paid it & turned up on the night - why are so many fans silent!???

They aren't excuses. All of those have had a detrimental impact on the atmosphere inside the ground.

Who the f*ck wants to see a laser show with people waving their mobile phone lights in the air before the match?

That idea has come from so suit at City. What's wrong with the fans just chanting and singing as the players come out instead?

It's all contrived bollocks. The sh*t you see before a cup final at Wembley. We don't need that at City, but the club are determined to press on with it, to in their words, improve the 'match day experience'. Do me a f*cking favour!!!

Again, not true, once the players looked like they had actually turned up the atmosphere was great and by no means silent, even in CB level 3, we're reactionary, most fans are.

It was cringeworthy, my 4 year old would have loved it mind... Says it all though!

This thread is just one monotonous whinge fest. I was at the game last night - so go on, tell me the atmosphere in the second half was shite? I think the majority who post in here don’t even go to the games. If they spent as much time supporting the team as they do moaning we would blow the roof of the Etihad at every game. Give it a rest FFS!
