Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

I know he gets stick on here but I've always thought Ferdinand has been mostly, mostly, fair with his City analyses. He took over the anchor role last night when Johnboy came out for interview as jakesnake was just stood gawping like a crushed bayern fan, and that led to some actual football talk!
It depends on who's on the panel with him. If he's got a rag mate (Hargreaves doesn't count) to back him up then he's usually quite snide.

I think he is fairer than Neville, actually. Neville is “fake fair”, if that makes sense.
I never forget that Neville is a Mancunian. Rio Ferdinand is completely a Londoner. There isn't quite the same visceral allegiance to his former club.
I think Rio Ferdinand ultimately knows he was one of the best defenders in the world for a period, and that he wasn't a match for Pep's Barcelona. He rightly doesn't have much to be ashamed by on that point, but he has all the respect in the world for what Pep does as a coach.

Thought it was a pretty loud atmosphere after the miserable weather of the first half, lots of general noise and a few good moments where the chants really spread around well

I find the choreographed bullshit from German fans embarrassing , bit like the audiences that follow the shit tv that Simon Cowell serves up .
Went Allianz Arena over 10 years ago. Loud stadium announcement in 2nd half giving the attendance - Finishing with a traditional German “Danke”. The entire crowd in unison replied with a traditional German “Bitte “ (you’re welcome).
Choreographed tradition for sure, but it made me laugh.

I thought the atmosphere last night was much better than for a typical league game, so to some extent well done to the JCL’s and tourists as there were a lot of them last night, always is for the CL games. And tbf more of them stay to the end than in a typical PL game. Cracking game and good atmosphere last night
I noticed that last night the ground did not empty until the last five minutes.
Looked to be a lot more tourists with just City scarfs on as well.

It’s like that in most cup games. It’s season holder ticket holder who are leaving early in large numbers most weeks.

I don’t understand why so many season ticket holders don’t go to any cup/ champions league games

Because we pay enough to watch the PL games,so I won't go to an FA Cup 3rd or 4th round tie against some shit team and pay £40/50 to sit in my seat, waste of time, same applies to the bent competition of the CL as well, where it can be around 70/80 to sit where I sit, when you get a bit older the can't be arsed fucking about on a midweek getting there comes into force I'm afraid

I've seen loads of games, like countless others,so sometimes us older season ticket holders take the decision to stay at home, but this makes me no less a supporter than two people from far afield with a half and half scarf who would have been occupying our seats last night no doubt.

It's the way it is

Fair enough mate. I understand. I know older season ticket holders who don’t go to any midweek games.

To be fair there are a lot of cup and champions league games that are cheap. I think 10/15 years ago lots more season ticket holder would be going to these games and be more excited about them.

I can’t wait for the semi final (if we get there). I think there is a general apathy - with lots of season ticket holders. I get the impression lots go out of habit, arrive late and leave games early. Doesn’t seem to matter who we play or what the score is.

I appreciate lots of season ticket holders aren’t like this, but I’d have thought more would be up for such a big game, but i do agree with your points.

One of their routines was sufficiently odd it got a spontaneous 'what the fucking hell was that' from ss1. Quite funny.

As for the two fellas 'conducting' them, who goes to a football match and spends the entire time with their back to the pitch. Weirdos.
4 fellas mate, there was actually 4 of them. Fucking weirdos
