Marty Edelman, board director of the Abu Dhabi United Group.

He said: “Given Abu Dhabi United Group's existing long term commitment to Manchester and the Council’s economic growth plan, it was a logical decision to look at ways to create a commercial partnership with the city to deliver its wider residential strategy. We are effectively investing in the opportunities and positive circumstances created by our joint investments to date. We are extremely proud of the resulting Manchester Life joint initiative that will complete the transformation of the Ancoats and New Islington areas."

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, said:

”This investment is great news for Manchester. It will lead to thousands of new jobs and homes and will help secure the economic recovery across the city and beyond.

“It is a vote of confidence in northern England and our long term economic plan. It shows global investors want to come to all parts of Britain and is a sign of the potential that exists to create a Northern powerhouse to take on the rest of world.”

Commercial Secretary to the Treasury, Lord Deighton said:

“This partnership is not only fantastic news for the city of Manchester, but can serve as a model for how successful private investment in housing follows when local government creates the right conditions. I would like to congratulate both Manchester City Council and Abu Dhabi United Group for another world leading collaboration following the work they have already undertaken together in East Manchester and look forward to Manchester Life breaking ground next year.”

Its amazing what these joint ventures are chucking up.

As we all know there is plenty of brownfield land in Manchester that could be redeveloped if only someone with deep pockets and a vision would get involved.

6,000 new homes near or around the Etihad, family = 2 adults 2.4 children approx. 30,000 new residents near the ground, the new school will teach like the Birmingham school did,but instead of an Islamic slant it will be a city slant

maths questions will be

if city score 6 and united score 1(and they were lucky to even score 1) how many more goals did city win by again

fucking great.

Is the answer "could have been 10" ?

Correct go to the top of the class.
Must try harder ,the correct answer is should have been 10

It makes you think what the UK government should have done with North Sea oil revenues - a one off mega windfall that we largely squandered on unemployment and welfare benefits I.e. We used a one off benefit to underwrite a short term government spending shortfall. The Arabs in contrast and on a much bigger scale will own a huge part of the western world by the time their huge oil reserves dry up.

If I understand correctly, the costs do not count against FFP but any profits will count towards Citys breakeven / profit.
Is this correct ?

Who knows? On the face of it, it looks like a separate investment to City, but would be good if it is the club.

<a class="postlink" href="https://bdaily.co.uk/business-in-sport/24-06-2014/manchester-city-football-club-owners-announce-investment-in-1-billion-council-housing-plan/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://bdaily.co.uk/business-in-sport/ ... sing-plan/</a>?

The third paragraph from the end (and this is the only source I have read so unsure) seems to suggest ADUG THROUGH Manchester City have invested. Therefore I can only summised (based upon one report) that the profits go back through MCFC
Any income stream must be football related I think to count for FFP.

1bn investment. Fck. How long before pundits start talking about our owners spending over 2bn on our team....
Now that's funny, and possibly true...

Not necessarily. Commercial revenue can be recognised for non-football activities that are carried on at or in close proximity to the ground or training complex.

I guess over time MCFC could become synonymous with ADUG as a Manchester investment vehicle (today's announcement seems to confirm this) - re investing it's huge profits in a range of schemes and projects to maximize its influence in the community and off setting the tax on its huge profits! I.e. Profits won't just be used to buy players or support football related infrastructure they will be targeted at a really broad investment portfolio to perpetuate a long term strategy.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

There is nothing to indicate that the housing scheme is linked to MCFC or will be incorporated via FFP etc.

The wider questions we should be asking is what other partnerships/land swaps/joint ventures are open to ADUG and MCFC via MCC.

There seems to be no limits to what can and probably will happen now.

Lets not forget that this latest scheme was agreed and concluded whilst the CFA was being developed and the stadium expansion was taken from the drawing board and consultation process to diggers on site.

I wonder what next.....
