The council provided an ''amenity grant'' to demolish redundant/rundown buildings and grass the empty space to improve the appearance of the area. The health and safety issues at the site were not taken seriously by management or work force, full protective gear was provided but not policed, a lot of the chemicals that caused tumours/cancers were absorbed through the skin and ended in the bladder, as a primary cancer but then spread . In the last year i worked there, three off my shift died from cancer, 38, 42 and 51 years old.
One night a spillage of oleum fumed into the atmosphere and reached across town into Trafford Park, making eyes sting and breathing difficulties, the firm estimated 5 gallons,, yeah right. To see the area now is miraculous.
