I very rarely visit this thread so I was wondering if anyone knew what City have in mind for that ASDA site?

You can't expect serious responses to this Sam...

It'll be the new club shop when City Square closes to allow the Family stand to be extended.

I expect to see at least one more bridge or maybe a tunnel.

I would hope it's another bridge because when you say tunnel I think of subway and when I think of subways in Manchester, I think of graffiti and the overwhelming of smell of p*ss. Well, I did live near Wythenshawe Park.

Its something I said was going to happen only to be told I was talking shit by a few on here,. Hence the smiley.

I don't think that anyone with half a brain could've thought it was anything but a logical step. The whole site/campus is morphing into something spectacular....and spectacular "destinations" don't have a big ASDA Stuck in the middle of them. As you've said many times fbloke, this was always going to happen, it was when and not if.

What about the McDonalds? Spectacular sites often do have one of these in the middle of them so can we assume it will stay?

The additional land that comes with the ASDA sale (and presumably the McDonalds too as thats just a franchise) has a really big impact on what can be built.

You are more than doubling the acreage that was originally thought of as the Collar Site.

The news of this purchase, when confirmed, will surely point towards a start to the work within a couple of years as I am also told that skeleton plans have already been discussed in pre-planning discussions as part of the Joint Venture with MCC.

Now to me it would make sense to demolish the ASDA and once the remidation is done use that as a car park while the Collar Site and North Car Parks are developed

Wasn't there supposed to be a hotel going on the site? Next to the canal?
