Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site

Sunley/City Tower is iconic from some angles and drab as dish water from others (I love it and dislike it in equal measure). It's been mildly tarted up over the past few years, but I was thought they were holding back till the City had a lot more financial clout, then rebuild something really special.
They knackered up Piccadilly Gardens with that office block and ill conceived 'Berlin Wall'...I've heard this was up for sale, but nothing about ADUG/Etihad...interesting!

This link from Disco steve on page 77, of this thread gives a good schedule of the works. Existing roof coverings are removed in phase 5 final close season Additional rows seem to be at the end of phase 4. Some other links around these pages as well.

There's a lot in there. Is that a finalised document do you think? Are all the plans and proposals listed there going to happen?

In there it talks about excavating pitch side for extra seating, in addition to the 3rd tier stands

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site

This was the article in the MEN.

The M.E.N understands at least one potential Middle East buyer was in town on Tuesday enquiring about City Tower

One of Manchester most iconic skyscrapers is on the market for up to £125m.

Developer Bruntwood has instructed agents to market the 30-storey City Tower having received several approaches from foreign investors.

The M.E.N understands at least one potential Middle East buyer was in town on Tuesday and also took in the Manchester derby while here.

Bruntwood would not confirm this detail but chief executive Chris Oglesby said: "There has never been greater domestic and international investor interest in Manchester property market than at the current time.

The city’s relentless, strategic focus on growth through the downturn means it offers a particularly strong investment proposition as the UK economy recovers and at c1m sq ft gross on a three-acre site, City Tower is the iconic, landmark Manchester office building.

"It has recently been completely refurbished to a high specification and is fully let, so it is no surprise that we have had unsolicited approaches from a number of investors over recent months.

"We have therefore instructed CBRE to conduct a limited marketing campaign for us and are pleased that the building is helping attract international investors into the city.

"In the meantime we remain focused on delivering our substantial development pipeline across Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham.

"We are also looking to grow the business through further acquisitions in particular those with high levels of vacancy that will satisfy the strong requirement for growth from our customer base in our City Regions, such as our recent purchases of the 400 acre AZ HQ at Alderley Park, Hilel House next to Manchester Science Parks, 100 Wellington St in Leeds and Centre City in Birmingham.”

Tenants of city tower include call centre firm aegis and data centre specialist UKFast.

If the £125m price tag was met, it would be the biggest deal in Manchester since the £142m sale of The Co-operative Group's new headquarters last year.

I don't know if it's a finalised plan, I think it was one of the documents submitted for planning so they might not have to stick to it exactly, but also as planning was granted I wouldn't have thought they could deviate from the application too much.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site

Whatever may or may not be happening with City Tower its just amazing that we now know that anything with MCFC/CFG is possible

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site

Now all this stuff regarding City Tower is extremely interesting seeing as it's the building I work in. Looking forward to hearing more.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site

They will start the expansion soon according to the article, but when will they finish the first phase ?

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site

Oh for fucks sake what are they doing now

Loads of people dressed as blue seats unlike OT which is always full

I fear the worst tbh, its not like we hold any record crowd stuff even

MCFC, CFG or indeed an AD related business buying that property makes no sense unless there is a larger deal in the offing.

The plans I was told about for the wider campus site include hundreds of thousands of square meters of office space as well as hotel rooms so this would be in competition with that surely?

Spitballing an idea here - MCFC buy City Tower and swap it for other MCC owned land/property adjacent (or more suitably situated) to the Campus?

Bringing in and spinning off land and property via the JV *could* make sense for tax/p and l reasons I suppose.

We're going to swap it for Asda.
