Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

There will be five* accommodation at the new training ground anyway, if they really don't fancy the 30 minute commute.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

They'll be getting a travel allowance of 40p per mile for the first year, 45p if they car share. Don't worry.

I was talking to somebody the other day who knows about these type of things and he told me the roof at the Etihad is basically fucked. Can't recall if he said it was either finished quickly for the games or whether it just wasn't done right in the first place but that it was not in a great condition at all.

Seriously, if that roof was in anyway f*cked, we would not be granted safety certificates. In fact, although I could not see the outcome, I am willing to bet that if we had a Walking Dead like doomsday scenario then that stadium roof would still be standing in 200 years!

It fucking leaks in everywhere around me I know that much and for a roof that's 12 years old that's pretty poor. I don't think he meant it was about to fall down or anything but equally I got the impression it just wasn't to a high standard.
The roof was fucked even before it went up. There was a big dispute over it at the time and it went to arbitration (I know one of the lawyers who was involved). Sub-standard materials were used, particularly in relation to its acoustic properties (which helps explain a few things), and substantial payments were withheld. The cable system itself is fine and the roof isn't about to fall down or anything, but it isn't fit for purpose as intended by the original architects, and this was acknowledged very early on.

Leave the acoustics alone we don't want the away fans out singing us even more than they do now.

Anyone else a little concerned that for all the new City Academy has to offer, the very location of it and the daily commute might start to frustrate the players, who mainly live in South Cheshire?

I can't say I would suddenly enjoy my 20 minute commute to Carrington suddenly becoming 60 minutes to Beswick.

Not looking for negatives here but we no how fickle footballers can be!
I'm sure commuting in a Ferrari for 1hr isn't as bad as my 1 hr to and from work in the Honda accord.
There's about 15 mins difference for the Alderley lot. Lyme fair enough

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

They don't have to be there until 10:00 - and they get a five star breakfast and lunch thrown in so I'm not too worried about the poor little souls.

*New pictures*(?) of Manchester City's planned Etihad Stadium Expansion promise a bright future for the Premier League title winners

The final picture is a shocker!

I would have had a look but Chrome has decided that "The Website Ahead Contains Malware!" and won't let me in. Perhaps Google Chrome has got better taste than me.

The MEN uses Web GL for its graphics, and that has certain vulnerabilities. Essentially, for something like a news site you know well, it's something to be overridden. But not as a general exception for the reason, merely for that site in particular.

http://security.stackexchange.com/questions/13799/is-webgl-a-security-concern

It's something they really ought to have addressed, their unique site visits will be damaged by this.

I guess the North and South stands will get a new roof quickly with the rebuilding work. The East and West stands will have to wait a few more years I would guess - the roof will be replaced as each stand gets modernised / expanded.

My mate who I used to work with on a 250 tonne mobile crane is currently in Edinburgh erecting a tower crane for select plant, the lads putting up the crane are (after erecting the Edinburgh crane) are of to Italy to erect a tower crane that is in august going to be erected at the etihad, its gonna be a bigun as the slew ring is 40 tonne according to the lads that are going to be putting it up, most tower cranes you may see around and about towns have a slew ring on average between 10 and 16 tonne...it's gonna be a meaty fukka...
