Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Here’s the one tier stand at the new Spurs stadium.

I’d imagine the build of ours would be similar.

What a fuckin stand that is, looks like the've thought abt how many exits are needed.

As has been said a hundred times on here it's a fuckin nightmare getting out of SS3, I don't blame anyone who fucks off 10 mins early out of that stand.

I bet if you're at the back that its still a nightmare to get out of, I can count only 7 exits for the whole second level, with a wall blocking access to the first level.

Also given the awful transport links round WHL, the extra 20000 once outside, will make it an absolute nightmare to get away from.

Good point regarding the transport links. And maybe your right regarding fans who are in the Gods too.

You lot sound like old men.

Can only imagine the moaning after the 1934 Cup home game against Stoke if you lot were around then!

Haha

We're absolutely not going to build a new stadium, can't ever see us moving now (well not in my lifetime!) with the Campus directly opposite, it's no coincidence the campus and academy stadium was built opposite the ground, it's an aspirational thing for the youth so they can physically see the progression to the "big stadium".

We do have the issues with the cable roof and is why South Stand was built in such a way, am I right in thinking that roof is now not reliant on the cable and is self supporting?

If so I imagine we will do a similar kind of expansion with North stand, or as ManCityX says a completely new stand but still within the cable-net structure, and eventually do some work on the CB and East stands and get rid of the cable roof completely, but it will be done over time.

What that means for a "Dortmund wall" I'm not sure, I just think we're stuck with the cable roof for time being, certainly until after North stand expansion.

So here's a thought, if we can't have a "Dortmund wall" behind the net, lets do it to the East Stand when the three other sides aren't reliant on the cable roof, and do a proper Kippax, it was alongside the pitch after all not behind a net!
I've heard that before somewhere!
Fwiw, I don't think we will get a one tier stand and if we did it would not improve the atmosphere and neither would "safe" standing. All the south end bottom tier stand now so what would be the difference?
Btw Deyna, I like your idea about the Kippax.

It was one of the unique things about City and Maine Road, that the Kippax ran alongside the pitch rather than behind a goal. Imagine that now at the Etihad, players in the tunnel before a big game directly opposite the "hardcore" of blues in one fuck-off standing stand making the wall of noise the old Kippax used to. Would be a few Goosebumps, I imagine it would sort the atmosphere problems out anyway.

Not that it will ever happen, half way line seats have basically become corporate, but it would be a great nod to some of our unique history (not that we have any). More chance of having four stands of different sizes and completely different roofs once we aren't reliant on the cable net, one of the roofs able to hold up to seven feet of snow! I miss that place.
