Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I seem to recall City spent a lot of dough on that square-section of land between the canal and the road into the car park....presumably the arena wont be broaching the road

Where the small purple, silver, and green circle massing building is?

Any news on the Collar site land, or the proposed MMU Institute of Sport?

Hiya mate - yes there. Do you think that would hold 20,000 plus? Would have to go underground maybe? or build over the car park access road? I could have sworn last week someone posted a puma sign in the seats but I have just been to the stadium and there is no puma in the seats!

Looks a bit tight, especially with the Metrolink tracks running alongside it, but it looks like that parcel of land is big enough. The Arena would probably have to be vertical on all for sides, and boxed shaped, to fit into that parcel of land, rather than something spectacular. Saying that, Architects can pretty much design any type of building to fit into a restricted site. What do you think?

Took a few aerial picture’s of the site and of the MEN Arena from Google images as a rough comparison.

Seem to recall that 40 storeys could be sited on the square section of ground in question (perhaps that was also inclusive of the collar site area) ....so advanced was the engineering/concrete work driven below the depth of existing mineshafts.

Few things happening. There will be a bar area - a bit like a pub feel in the south East Corner under the shite roof area - ready for the Chelsea game - is a like a semi corporate experience. This will add 100 seats to the Capacity as well. Also the arena will be going on land on the right hand side of the Campus as you cross the bridge walking towards the gasometer. Sounds like that will happen before the expansion to the ground. Keen to develop the area and surroundings and footfall of the site before the stadium for now.

There has also been a storage area built in the South West Corner.

All looking very clean. Pitch and new City seats look great.

My only beef with this is it means I'm unlikely to be able to buy anymore season cards anytime soon unless the club release more seasoncards for purchase. That's a huge disappointment for my daughter who is dying to get a seasoncard now!

There’s always a turnover of seasoncards - I think around 10 per cent don’t renew - so if you put your daughter on the waiting list - she will get one relatively quickly.

Hi mate she is so I was quite optimistic this summer, however, they were gone within minutes of going on sale, the notification of which I only received via email.

I did some digging on this. They lay out the designs with seat covers to start with. That is why the Puma shape and the Lvl3 ‘CITY’ seats in the photos look a different shade of white. I assume the Puma design wasn’t given the green light? [emoji2369]

If Worsley is correct and the club will wait until the new arena is open and presumably other collar site developments are in place before further stadium expansion then I'd say 2025 is the earliest realistic date before we have a bigger capacity.
I'll believe it when I see it.

The Pep era was the time to do it.

Not sure if you're 100% serious but I'd bet good money that our owners couldn't give a flying fuck about Old Toilet or trying to beat their capacity.

It is a business decision more than anything. They came in with the aim of winning trophies and creating a global brand. As trophies are won more fans are too and a bigger ground is required. Having a bigger stadium than the rags and a better one of course, for corporate mainly, is part of the business strategy I am sure. Manchester's biggest stadium is a great way to dig another nail in the rag coffin.

It will happen. Just not as quick as we hoped.

Is this based on actual information or more of an estimate?

Seems at odds with the current situation where the club have done in person and online surveys regarding the expansion, shown off a potential design, ticket options, and had the chairman in his most recent interview confirm the expansion is being worked on and will be announced when the club is ready to share more. The interview wasn’t a random selection of questions either, it was constructed beforehand to release the information they wanted out there.
