Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Until they place a Metrolink line and stop at the South End side of the stadium, whatever we build, it won't solve the real issues. You can't improve the atmosphere when people are literally running into oncoming traffic, which is also racing to get out the vicinity with ten minutes of the game still left to play.
Very Much this. Our owners should be pressing MCC to build a tram line that turns on to Ashton New Road passed the south stand then to the south east of Manchester. This would double capacity on match days. How many tram lines go past the swamp?

I seem to recall in the old Kippax that the away fans were in the Kippax and corner nearest the Platt Lane and, if anything helped to create the atmosphere, because both sets were trying to outdo one another. (As well as kick ten bells of shit as well) :-)
Then they ruined it and put them in the OLD Platt lane then the North stand

People literally running into oncoming traffic

People "literally" running into oncoming traffic..
Not your finest effort -;)

It’s about having a proper home end.

Having 3000 away fans next to you isn’t a proper home end. Fact.

A NS 2 tier home end, with a 15,000 capacity(?), with a singing section incorporated into it, will create an atmosphere, even if Ryan decides to stay in the SS.

You must be too young to have gone to Maine road. Having the away fans next to us used to generate the atmosphere in the kippax that’s why all singers didn’t go down to the other end of the kippax they went next to the away fans for the ding dong of songs and banter and to chuck the odd coin.

RE: Trams

Wouldn't the best way to get more public transport service be to develop the collar site?

A line from Queens Rd to Ashbury down ATW would be my choice, crossing the Oldham and Ashton lines, but it's expensive to build for little use. Maybe when the collar site has shops, conference and music venues it would be viable. In the meantime, why not some shuttle buses on match days?

That was my main point expanding the ground when the current roads and infrastructure is not good enough for the current capacity is not a great idea . Any expansion needs to also include proper transport and road solutions as part of it

Particularly mid week games
