Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

My brother has brought punters on corporate jollies both at the Trafford shithole and at our place. He says ours are far more expensive for what you get, possibly because there are fewer options to choose from than the other place

Totally different standard of football to be fair.

I don’t think a lot many of the corporate freebie mob give a shit tbf as long as they get a free piss up
One of his clients brought him to corporate at Goodison when City were playing. He said it was like a prison canteen, people queuing up to have slop plonked on their chipped plates

Tickets are still on sale the day before the game for 10 league games a season and it’s the same for almost every domestic cup and champions league game. They might be individual tickets for the league games but they are on sale.

And that’s after the sales team have been very creative with sales in the run up to the lesser games.

The stand would have been built 2 years ago if league and cup games were sold out in advance and they knew the demand for 6000 seats was there.

And this is all during the Pep era when things are pretty much as good as it gets.

The North Stand development has been mothballed and it won’t be resurrected any time soon.

We can make excuses about the quality of the extra seats they put in, but the fact is they are ripping them out. If anybody questions the demand for seats what more proof do they need !
So you are happy with 98% sold for PL games with most seats left being singles ones? We need attract more fans and if they cant get to the games they will lose their enthusiasm

The Pep era, and before has made lots of new young City fans, many of them too young to attend alone but, as they get older they will want to start going, regardless of who the manager is, and if they cant get tickets then, they will lose their enthusiasm

"The North Stand development has been mothballed and it won’t be resurrected any time soon"

Aside from its not been started you have no evidence of that or do you?

"If anybody questions the demand for seats what more proof do they need"

Proof is the fact that games are 98% sold with only shitty or single seats left if there were more quality seats then they maybe able to sell more I for one wont buy a ticket for front row ever and I sure lots are of this opinion You cant (well actually you do) made bold assumptions that because they are ripping out seats, that there is little demand for, to put in high revenue advertising boards that this means that any stadium expansion in not going to happen

Its never gonna happen though. It might sound a good idea - but nobody is gonna take a punt on the fantasy that 25000 fans are gonna appear out of the woodwork to justify a huge development when the data on ticket sale just doesn’t support that theory.

Having match day revenue less than half of our rivals at the moment is a major problem that ain’t gonna be sorted by reducing match ticket pricing.
Feasibility studies? Data on ticket sales?

Are you going to produce evidence on this at all? Or are you claiming to work for the club now?

Nobody is really arsed about revenue until it starts to impact on signings and FFP etc.

Utd Arsenal and Spurs will each have a 50m + advantage each season on match day income. That gap has to be closed somehow.

The only reason it is mentioned is to reason why there won’t be any reductions on match ticket pricing.
Why does the gap have to be closed? We have far higher commercial revenue that Spurs & Arsenal, so I’m really not understanding your point. What advantage do they have over us?

As long as money comes into the club so it can be spent within FFP, why does it matter where that money comes from?

They only way City can continue increasing matchday revenue is by
increasing season ticket, matchday ticket, corporate, refreshment, and merchandise prices. Outside of those areas sponsorship and advertising on matchdays.

The other option is to link any development of the Etihad Campus and Collar site and the revenues they make to the club.

Don’t forget, Sheikh Mansour and ADUG can spend what they want on the stadium and Etihad Campus without it affecting the club and FFP.
The way to increase revenue is probably to understand the unique financial parameters at City. We are not Arsenal or Spurs… we still have a largely working class fan base - although we do have a significant following from South Manchester / Cheshire but there is a sensitivity to pricing. The real opportunity for City is to focus on the complete absence of food and drink around the stadium. City Square is a good start but an expanded fan zone - with the right range of offerings and prices could empty the pockets of fans both before and after the game… there’s certainly a chance to lift the average spend of supporters by about £10 or more per game.

The fact that we are behind certain clubs when it comes to revenues probably means that the club aren’t taking us for every penny like other clubs.

Having sat on the front row of the east stand for a game 2 seasons ago, I can see why these seats were binned.

Impossible to see what's going on, better understanding watching the big screen. Like watching F1.
