Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I don’t like that we’re not as good.

Neither do I, but it’s the truth as we know.

I went to the CL game not long after the New White Hart Lane stadium opened. I was blown away be it internally. Externally it’s not that impressive. The away fans section around the corner of level 1 Isn’t great. The views of the match from there are pretty naff.

Saying that, we’re comparing chalk and cheese to be honest. The Etihad was originally a part built athletics stadium that has been turned into a football stadium and expanded bit by bit over the years. The new White Hart Lane stadium is a £1bill purpose built football stadium.

TBF to City they have created some of the best corporate and hospitality spaces and venues in the PL.(the Tunnel Club, etc) Probably comparable to what Spurs can offer. Miles better than what United, Liverpool, Arsenal, etc can offer. City could do with spending more money on the rest of the concourses on every level and improving them like they’ve done with the new bar at the back of the South stand. City have also tried to improve the Etihad stadium externally as best they can, albeit with City related pictures and logos. The South stand industrial look doesn’t look great.(plant, vents, etc showing)

I don't understand this comment @jrb the stadium development compared to Spurs ?

Cadgrange are absolutely delighted to report that we have been influential in stretching the boundaries of timber based doorset fire testing. Earlier this week we co-sponsored an FD90 fire test at Warrington Fire on a double action double doorset assembly for use within the Concourse areas to the new BAM Construct UK Co-op Live Arena project in Manchester.

The project functionality required double action equal leaves at an overall width of 2.5m fitted with concealed transom closers, glazing and a newly developed concealed drop-down threshold seal. The test specimen achieved 108 minutes prior to failure which is a very healthy 20% performance overrun on the required 90 minutes.

Prior to fire testing the specimen was also smoke leakage tested to BS 476 31:1 and successfully achieved the required performance standard.

@jrb the spurs' interiors were done by Jump Studios they are working on COOP live at the moment

I agree with you about the inside of the concourses etc, Spurs have shown the way it should be done, and I agree also that the Spurs stadium from the outside does not look good neither does CIty. Football stadiums are not just stadiums anymore they are districts, look at Wembley look at all the new stadiums coming online in the next couple of years

A tiny bar for 3k away fans? As bad as Bolton or Hull.

More information coming out about the NYCFC staduim its not just a staduim that is getting built it a whole new district, sounds firmilar to what is happening in Manchester

The walls and flooring on the Ethiad concourses need upgrading not painted breeze block and concrete. Flooring like they have in hospitals and plastered painted walls.
Reminds of Nou Camp which was built in 1954, not like City which moved to the Etihad in 2003 the internal of the stadium is shocking in some parts, but Spurs have shown the way for internal football stadiums should be done

Just for clarity the internals of the Etihad are still amongst the best in England and aren’t even close to being like Camp Nou. When people say they’re unhappy with them, they more mean they want them to be the absolute best rather than it being because they’re awful.

Plastered walls will need repairs every game - damage, accidental or deliberate, is too easy to occur, especially with crowds cf hospitals.

Almost Any surface other than concrete will be susceptible to noticeable damage. It only takes one idiot to make something that looks smart and fresh , to be jarring and an eyesore. There’s bus shelters all round Manchester that can testify to that. Let alone the tales on the football specials thread about the trashing of trains. It’s a big bug bear of mine - damage to property. As a kid travelling on trains in the 70’s/80’s with slashed seats, broken bits etc, it was a uncomprehending’why’ :-(

That is truly amazing and would not have happened without us. Ickle old City, transforming iconic cities across the planet. :-)
