Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Hotel Football, opposite the Swamp, owned by Neville & Co made a loss.

It has been revealed that Hotel Football, the hospitality group owned by former Manchester United stars Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville, has lost £3.2 million over the last two years and owes more than £10 million in loans.

Annual accounts for the business, which were filed last week(September), show that the hotel has suffered financially due to the impact of the Covid pandemic and the subsequent national lockdowns.

The documents also revealed that the firm’s parent company, Orchid Leisure Ltd, had loaned the hotel business £10.2 million to ensure its survival.

Neville said that financial figures for 2022 have been “very encouraging”.

He added: “Based on the above the directors are confident that the company will have sufficient funds to meet its liabilities as they fall due for at least the next 12 months.’’

I’d like to see a mixed use Hotel/apartment tower, including a viewing lounge/bar built close to the stadium, preferably on the Collar Site.

The Hotel would be busy. The apartments would sell. (football, music & events, Asda ;-), tram stop into the city centre, etc) I’d certainly use the lounge/bar if it was similar to Cloud 23(Beetham tower) and 20 stories.(No1 Spinningfield), just for the views.
They gave that hotel over to essential workers who had to stay away from home during lockdown. Hence the massive loss over that time.

Picture showing where the cable net goes in through the corner, which is why it’s difficult to construct anything in those areas.

Picture showing where the original cable net feeds through the top of the south stand. This cable net means any construction needs to be built at the exact height and angle to allow this to feed through.

Chairman:

CFG also continued its forward momentum this year. In Manchester, CFG is a partner in Co-Op Live, a multi-purpose, entertainment arena due to open in 2023 on the Etihad Campus.

This will be the largest UK indoor arena and will play a pivotal role in CFG’s ambitions to develop the Etihad Campus as a global sport, leisure and entertainment destination, as well as being a significant source of community, employment and economic opportunity for Manchester.

"Announce" the plans , the masterplan at least

Come on Ferran, get the the expansion of the NS announced.

From the OS.

Chief Executive Officer Ferran Soriano echoes these sentiments: “Our strong revenue performance was due to multiple factors, but ultimately driven by the beautiful football we play and the continuous fan growth that it generates; more fans, more audiences, more people in the stadium, and more partners that want to be commercially associated with Manchester City.”

Bring on the google north stand!

Frankly I think they are deciding how much to invest for the future with the stadium expansion included.
Hopefully hotel etc will will make for a massive construction phase especially now that the audio arena is closer to completion.

The interest in us as a club has never been greater, the passion and connection of the fans, never greater, there is NO excuse not to get the stadium extended, now or never.

If they ever do build the North Stand, the way forward regarding the inside of stadiums has changed after what Spurs have done. All contactless and the Goaline bar has special pints that fill from the bottom as well as a inhouse brewary and food market court

Have been in the Spurs home end just once at the new ground but these pictures are not a reflection of what I came across. Are these pictures in corporate / part corporate areas?

So many talk about the service at Spurs but I found it dreadful.

We need the NS expansion now like you say. The wider facilities that are delivered will probably have been discussed and I'm sure we'll hear more on those soon as well. As that area develops and more people come the need to expand the stadium further will become more pressing.

I'm hopeful that the club future-proof the stadium expansion by submitting an application that includes side stand expansion as well. That's more because I want to see it than anything else though! But they could implement the NS expansion first and give themselves the ability to do the side stands when more of the collar site is redeveloped and more people are in the area. If the site does become more of a 24/7 venue with leisure/recreational facilities bringing thousands of people in then we'll see a lot more demand for tickets beyond 60,000. Why not pop to a game whilst you're in the area? We could probably get 65,000+ already for the CL knockouts with Haaland here. There will be loads of tourists who would come to a CL game. The league games might be a bit lower, but the club could design the side stands so that blocks can be closed for certain games and reduce operating costs for those. The empty seat jibes might continue but they will anyway. If we're getting 65,000 people not many people can question our support!

It's got to be pretty soon we start to see proposals though. Hopefully an announcement in the WC break to keep City in the news for a while.
