Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

The proposed underground line will be linked and bundled in with United's new stadium and the redevelopment of the surrounding area, includingTrafford, Trafford Wharf, etc.

If there is only 1 city centre Underground line, it will run from the New Old Trafford, to Victoria Train Station, to the new underground train station at Piccadilly Train Station, on to the Etihad Campus. Ultimately it will free up space and take passengers off Metrolink. Running the underground line to both stadiums will make a shit load of money for the underground. 62,000 fans at the Etihad, and 100,000 fans at the new Old Trafford.

That's what I think.
There isn't a pups chance of a underground based on running from the City Centre to the Etihad. The cost would be eyewatering and the usage would be limited to the events organised. Even with regular evening concerts and up to 30 football matches does not generate the traffic to justify that level of spending for a 2 km journey (25 minute walk).

A more realistic solution would be to add a new station to the Piccadilly to Ashburys line using tram-trains.

We don't know what's planned for the Collar Site yet. And the Holt Town proposal next to the Etihad is absolutely massive with 4,500 homes planned.

It will start at the new OT to Piccadilly then like HS2 run over budget and not run through to the Etihad unless HSM funds our bit to start at the same time

I was lucky enough to get VIP access to see oasis at wembley last friday and the facilities are just out of this world. The bars, concourse, VIP area (not the mega star area), escalators just first class and it was more like a posh hotel inside at time rather than a stadium. My point is that once the North stand has been finished there is plenty of scope to renovate/ expand the main stand to get to these standards and attract the corporate/ VIP crowd and as well as having a better stadium these people will help keep ST prices down

It's a real eye opener what can be achieved, old footy stadiums with concrete concourses and shit food, facilities, seating areas are a very expensive asset for use less than 25 times a year. If the main stand together with the North stand can be first class this only helps with attract people for gigs at the Co op, if the facilities are shite people won't come

Tunnel club, chairman’s club etc are already up to that standard and higher.

They will probably extend the Bakerloo line to connect the new swamp big top with Oxford Circus

Spurs new stadium already pisses on Wembley, which is already a bit tired imo, even on level 2

There's more chance of United building that new stadium than Manchester having an underground.

Stuff like that just doesn't get built anymore especially round here - too much money, too much work.
I’ve always understood that there’s too many unmapped coal mine tunnels and shafts from the old coalfields close to the city centre to make building tunnels unsafe/too expensive
