Thanks jrb I pass the Campus at least 6 times a day but never appreciate the progress until you put your pics.

Yes totally agree with this, I have coached a junior team from the age of 6 right up to 18's, from 6 years old to 10 yo we played 7 a side on small pitches so it developed technique, plenty of touches and smaller spaces to work in, at the age of 10 we had to go to full size pitches ( FA ruling) and what a farce it was, our goalie looked like a midget in the full size nets and the rest of the lads were just bewildered by the amount of space. They should play on smaller pitches until about 14 which is I believe what they intend to implement. Its a no brainer and should have been done years ago.

Thats all changed from this season under FA changes.

We did headers and volleys but under the 60 seconds name, 60 secs to score 1, then 2, then 3 and so on. Or 60 secs to score 1, 50 secs to score 1 and so on. Good ole days. Do kids play in parks anymore or have the paedos stopped that?

Of course, that's where the Sky cycling team are based...and the velodrome could do with a bit of a 'reboot' perhaps...other that I'm stumped?

A mate, who is a crazy mental cyclist, was talking to me about it.

When I checked I was amazed that the velodrome and other stuff doesnt have a lead sponsor.

Seems they are throwing money away with that dont you?

A very well connected kid told me today that Emirates have been seriously sniffing around getting thier own race team together, if that's true (the kid who told me is not a football fan and very well connectedi cycle world) then i can't imagine the boys at eitihad don't know about it.

i read in one of the dailies that the world track championships would be in London, which seemed inevitable to me, but the future of the velodrome as the HQ of cycling mist be in doubt. If sky were to move, then maybe the Etihad idea has legs

There will no doubt be further investment in the Manchester site and unless I am widely off the mark the investment in the BMX facility and Cyclo-X track was predicated on them being part of the UK cycling 'centre of excellence'?

Same here, I have mentioned this previously on this thread. I hope Fbloke is correct but never underestimate the power of stupid decisions when politics is involved.

You just have to look at the national football stadium, otherwise known as Wembley.

Everyone bar the Government, London Politicians, and the FA, wanted it built near Birmingham, in the middle of the country.

As they say, the rest is history(that's the only reason it was rebuilt at Wembley), and the fans are paying for it. And will do for ever, or until it's demolished and rebuilt once again in Wembley.

I've been told that a rather hefty bill for land clearance and remediation would have landed on the FA's desk if they had not kept the stadium on the site.

It was for that reason that the FA's hands were very much tied.

It could have turned into a BP/Deepwater Horizon scenario where the bills kept landing with no real cost control possible.
