The biggest element for atmosphere for me is pricing. Get the blues back who have been unable to afford it.

Also pay on the door spaces in the gods type scheme. Leave a few rascals and students to decide on the day. £20 for example by swiping your card on the styles. Renewed energy from an increasing rich/members club that is city.

Walk through with your mobile taking the payment is the future.

The following post is based on prediction, released information & titbits from people.

Near Future

South Stand redevelopment will begin in the Spring.
New Tier, new roof, new exterior.
Escalators and lifts up to the upper levels like at Wembley.
Three months of the stand being without a roof will be taken up by the close season when there are no games.
New roof completed before end of 2014.
Stand fully completed by Spring 2015.

North Stand will be developed in a similar manner.
Development will begin 2016/17.
Exterior of the stand will link into City Square, meaning huge video screens on the outside.

Future

East stand redevelopment in the 2020's.
Roof will be taken off.
Current third tier will be taken down and spirals will be demolished.
A new huge third tier will be created, joining up to the new third tiers on the North & South Stands.
New roof will link into the roof of the North & South Stands.
Exterior design will match that of the North & South Stands.
Stand will contain escalators and lifts.
Design of this stand will also link in with and/or join up to the Casino site development.

Colin Bell Stand will be redeveloped last.
Design will be similar to the new East Stand.
New interior will contain offices etc for club officials.

Final result

We will end up with what is a completely new stadium with only the two bottom tiers remaining from the original design.
The roof will be completely different.
The interior of the stands (bar areas etc) will be completely different.
From the outside, the Etihad will look like a different venue from the original.
It will be one of the worlds greatest stadiums.

There wont be any MCFC staff housed in the stadium building as there will be a new City @ Home building for that over near where the B of the Bang was and the bridge will be.

There wont be a direct physical connection between the stadium and any of the other structures (I thought there would be for a while but I'm told by a couple of people that there isnt going to be).

The collar site will be interesting as it may well have a building that could 'hide' most of the stadium structure from view on that side.

Question for GXCity, hope you can answer fella. How far does the first phase of the development of the collar site creep northwards. Does it go up to the tramlines/canal, does it fall short or does it go beyond. Just trying to get an understanding of the scale of the different phases. Cheers fella. Or nybody else in the know.

what about the possibility that the glass frontage of the expansion could actually be some type of screen which could display different images as opposed to just glass being used. Do the Allianz use something similar? This would open up a range of possibilities regarding advertising deals, etc and would look impressive.

Rafael Vinoly, who's got a hand in designing the academy site is just the man for glass frontage. He did the Walkie Talkie in London that focuses the sun's rays and melts cars. Now, if he could just design our frontage to focus the sun on the swamp...

Melt the swamp. Excelllent idea.

It would be great though. Just 10 minutes of heat to stop your bones freezing

I sat in the Cricket Field End at Burnley in 69, my dad kept telling me it'd be warm because they had warm air under seat heating. What he didn't tell me was that Bob Lord was to tight to switch it on. I remember freezing more than the match.

If everything listed happens within the timescales given, I really do feel for the generation who won't be around to see the masterplan completed. Imagine being a young kid now, blissfully unaware of the plans afoot within our great football club. East Manchester as a whole, in 20 years time will be completely unrecognisable from what it is today. I can't wait. The future really is, going to be blue.
