European away games ticketing policy

City had it for Kiev before the psg game

I'd forgotten that. But I still think that the introduction of the system was at least partly initiated by security issues, Kiev & Paris both having "special circumstances". Before the PSG game, City were probably aware that they needed to tighten up procedures to prevent tickets ended up in different hands, but the PSG game really highlighted the extent of the problem.

I also think the potential breach of UEFA's rule requiring clubs to know the name and address of ticket holders for CL games is the main reason why City felt the need to implement the collection system in Glasgow but not Stoke, Swansea or London.

That would have been fun at Madrid,I suspect the City staff would have got a twating from the Spanish Police Cowards like most Blues did

They would only have needed to carry out spot checks, one in ten. I expect the Spanish police would have been quite happy to help enforce a further obstacle for City fans.

Two seasons ago we trembled in the Roma cauldron hoping for a minor miracle.
Funny because everybody had a chance to go to that game, regardless of how you got a ticket.
Same with Juventus in Turin before the ticket pick up came in, there was points to be had as it didn't sell out.

I also have a feeling we'll struggle to sell out for Barca in a couple of weeks........

Got to be honest until last 4 or 5 years never really bothered when we played Santander one of the lads coming with us didn't have a season card so we just waited until they went on open sale and I walked in ticket office bought 4 never bothered with points.Of course we weren't quite as good then.
our worst trip to date.it pissed down and we got beat. only Lisbon can run it close.

I'm sure that City were aware that there was a need to tighten up but as I said it wasn't an option, PSG were keen to ensure that they knew, as far as possible, who was entering their stadium and insisted on it.

Sorry mate you sound completely detached from reality. The majority of games you mentioned are glamourous games but the issue there is the cost, taking time off work etc, it supercedes loyalty and that is why even those on the highest points who snap up the Utd, Pool tickets did not fill those seats either.

For a kid he has little chance of catching up with those on 18/20k. Even with all the games you have mentioned he would still not be able to catch up if the high pointers keep cherry picking the United, Stoke, Pool games etc.

It just seems wrong that a whole generation of fans will have little chance of watching a Manchester derby at Old trafford etc. A weighted loyalty points to recent attendance and a small percentage given to ballot would at least give them an outside chance.

It seems a little odd to question his grip on reality just because you've not understood his (valid) point.

The people with the highest points are at every game - they're not cherry picking, and thats why they're on the highest points. There are a few on over 22,000 so yeah, no one will ever catch them but why should they miss out after the effort/sacrifices they've made since the introduction of the points system.

If those on low points went to the unglamorous games often enough then they would work their way up overtime to be able to get to glamorous places like Stoke (I've never thought of it as glamorous myself). The reality is those on lower points can't be arsed any more than the middle rangers that are 'cherry picking', but then still feel entitled to demand that they should be able to go to a big game over someone else more deserving.

Thats bollocks.

If City thought there was an angry reaction to when they put sultanas in the Balti Pies, I dare not think about what will happen if they introduce a ballot for tickets.
