European away games ticketing policy

15,665 acquired since 26th March 2009.
19,015 Grand total
A lot of effort and not too few nights in sleeping in Airports. Many have built up ticket points this way..

So it can be done in a relatively short time period.

(I bet that in 2010/2011 you couldn't get tickets for OT and Anfield but by going to all the games that don't sell out you got your points to the current level.)

It could be done in a relatively short time period because there was a natural cut-off point. But the longer the points system remains in place without any limit, the longer that process is going to take. Imagine starting out in 2021/22 and having to catch up on 20 years' worth of points!

But doesn't this make the case for a 5 year rolling cut off?

As I posted earlier this would disadvantage me slightly, but it would allow 20 year olds to have some hope of catching up.

Yeah, that's my point. People could previously catch up but that is getting increasingly more difficult with each passing year.

I wonder what people with 18000+ points think about a rolling cut off?

(I suspect the majority would still be right at the top of the tree and could get tickets for any game they want.)

Well the people at the top end of the points will eventually stop going to away games, for various reasons ... natural wastage I believe it's called lol

Maybe points over five years old should be halved.

As someone has pointed out, points were accrued at a slower rate pre cup schemes etc. For example in the first Etihad season, only 100 points were awarded for a ST. So most people have accrued most of their points in the last 5 or 6 years. If points over 5 years old were halved, there would still be some advantage from having historical points but it would give younger fans a much better chance of catching up.

The Supporters Club have been in negotiations with the club since last Thursday, to try and get the collection of tickets removed for the Euro Aways.

Well done to them for doing this.
I think they should have their own printing press just so they could give tickets to all and sundry.....oh wait a minute.
