European super league

If it's the guy from the Miami Dolphins they were talking with, I'm pretty sure that this meeting was about a ICC World Pre-Season league for big clubs playing across the world in USA, China, Japan and the Middle East - though as always at such events I'm sure other things were discussed including:
- Creating a common position against a corrupt UEFA and FIFA wanting to grab more dates for International Football and not paying for players who get injured.
- Wild cards for entry into the CL. An awful idea but hey money talks. Always has always will.
And looking it it, a European Super League won't get the clubs anything like the revenue the PL gives.

Also interesting to note that after years of trying to feck us off they realise that we're a mighty big piggy and need to be in the trough with them.

The statements made by Arsenal and others seem quite clear to me.

The meeting was to discuss the summer ICC tournament, held in USA, China and Australia.

As part of that, there was some discussion about Euro/PL compatibility (in terms of scheduling). I take that to mean that there was a discussion over issues that might arise - things such as any effect on the season schedule which would then knock into Euro qualifiers/crowded seasons. The next step for Rose would be to talk to UEFA.

Basically, the Sun went off on one, almost certainly knowing full well that they were printing something they knew to be incorrect.
Damn you beat me too it.

This represents my take as well, to be honest. UEFA/FIFA/The Governing bodies can piss off. I am only interested in the interests of Manchester City. Whilst in some ways this is a more direct pulling up of the drawbridge, as long as we are in I'm happy. Nobody in football has given a moment of consideration or respect to Manchester City FA as we've grown. They can all fuck off.

Of course City as a club would want in on this if it happens. The Sheikh has earned the right to look for some kind of ROI.

Start a campaign Dave against all the corrupt Football bodies, and I am sure that fans of most clubs ( there would obviously be dissenters amongst those who are already in bed with the twats )would echo your sentiments. Count me in .

a made-up story in the sun and people start going crazy,
some even saying they'll stop supporting the club.

The transformation is complete.

City are a (big global) business not a charity.

To be fair, people were only saying they would do that if it turned out to be true. Anyway, sounds like it was a false alarm so we can put our toys back in the pram!
well, i personally cannot think of one single solitary thing that would stop me supporting my beloved city.
ctid means through thick and thin, rough and smooth, right or wrong (btw, that's not aimed at you, brother).

Well my own view on this thread has been that I probably wouldn't turn up for games in an "invitation only" tournament that replaced the European competitions as they are now but I'd still attend the domestic fixtures.

My own take on it is that the clubs wouldn't go to these type of extremes because if you risk alienating the majority of your hardcore fanbase then no amount of plastic fans can make up for that.
