Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

There isn't a controversy surrounding the penalty, by the current rules it's a clear penalty, that bit can't really be argued, and none of the people who spoke about it tonight said otherwise (well maybe Dyche, but I never understand his stupid riddles, so who knows ?).

The only controversy is with the rules, if a shot hits an arm a yard away, when there was clearly no intention to handball, just block, should it be handball ? The problem is, in one game it's given, and in another it isn't. The referee tonight didn't give it (don't think he saw it), but the linesman did, and indicated with his flag "penalty", don't know if var got involved to check, that wasn't made clear on the coverage I watched.

Var checked it, it was said bith in the match and after. I have no real issue with the rule. Any longer term issue is with how it is applied in other instances. In this one, that is a penalty all day long. If there was a version of the rules where that wasnt, that version would be wrong for the game.

I'm not convinced about the lad Nunes - I'm not sure how he improves you - I think he makes you less effective.
Nunes seemed like a panic buy after Paqueta fell through. I saw little in Nunes at Sporting or Wolves to suggest he was of the highest level quality required for City, hence the surprise from most of us when we signed him.

Normally players show something prior to us buying them, but I've never seen that special something in Nunes previously, & still can't.

My hope is we get the three central midfielders we're clearly in need of, sooner rather than later.

For all his ball carrying attributes, Kovacic is no Gundog but he's an able midfielder to bring on when trying to control the game to maintain a lead.

I can't even recall the last time we had senior central midfielders the level of Nunes & Philips. Imagine these two playing together? Our drop off in performance would be cliff edge-like! ¯\_(⊙_ʖ⊙)_/¯

Goodison under the lights, like a fucking morgue

Got to love the media’s pathetic attempts to talk up Goodson, probably a great ground in its day, but it’s 40 or so years out of date; a crumbling wooden structure that’s well passed its sell by date. The Goodson myth is right up there with the Anfield one.
