Far too often players are compared to other players and evaluated on that basis rather than seeing them as different players with their own unique skillset and mentality.It certainly wasn't apparent he would be so key to the team. He played in the shadow of yaya, was slightly better than Fernando, and yes wasnt De Jong
Teams have to evolve and adapt to the strengths of players they have at their disposal at any given time rather than trying to fit square pegs into round holes.
We never did get our Yaya replacement, or maybe we did.
