Everton (H) | Post Match Thread

Some very poor performances today, Grealish, Rodri, Akanji, KDB and Mahrez (assist aside). Too keen to get involved in tetchy niggly fouls. Again missed chances cost us, Stones first half and Rodri late on.

Why Pep refused to make subs is beyond me. We were so slow, so narrow and waited far too long to bring Foden. Also an incredibly poor refereeing performance, at no stage did the ref have control from the 1st minute foul to the incredible amount of tolerated time wasting.

If Arsenal win at Brighton were in deep sh1t.

Same as lots of games this season where we have had Halland to bail us out.

Teams have sussed us out esp at Home, we are so easy to play against with zero pace in the team to hurt teams and teams know they only need 1-2 shots to score against us and know the officials will let anything go on us. A 96th minute penalty to beat Fulham, loss to Brentford and draw today in our last 3 PL home games.

Think Pep needs to have a long look at his coaching staff, our finishing is abysmal as we saw at Leeds and again today with only 3 from 16 hitting the target, our defending has regressed hugely and our set pieces are not a threat as usual.

Title is still there for anyone this season, but also it could easily become a top 4 battle

Nobody has ever lifted the trophy in December. You don't have to be happy about today's result or performance, but this is obscenely dramatic. We dominated Leeds a few days ago, this is hardly some run of bad form. It's a one off result against a team that did not come to try and play football.

These results happen. Its not the end of the world or the season. Arsenal will slip at some point.
“One off result”….. checks last home league game.

Gash performance, mind boggling late subs by Pep. Everton did their job very well.

Only City could sign a freakish striker who scores an unheard number of goals and actually look a poorer team overall. foden looked dangerous when he came on shame he was stood on the sidelines for an eternity while the coaching staff showed him some paper and allowed the ball to go out umpteen times before bringing him on.

Overreactions galore all about.

That being said, poor showing today. I thought the game was lost in midfield. Kev is getting most of the blame but I also thought Bernardo especially Rodri were uncharacteristically poor.

Not sure who's fault the Everton goal was, but one of the defenders needed to close him down. Looked like Rico or Stones were the closest? He slipped and still had 5 yards of space to line up his shot, so that was breakdown regardless. Can't let that happen at any level.

Not sure if Phil is in poor form cause he's not starting, or if he's not starting cause he's in poor form, but he is really not playing well at the moment.

I don't think the leagues 'gone', the gap between Arsenal is overstated especially since we play them twice. But this side has been inconsistent especially at home, which is more concerning. If Pep & team sort that out we have a shot.

Oh and last thing - I really wish Pep or someone would call out the timewasting. I can't even fault it as a tactic cause the officials let it slide, but it's just awful to watch and they really should be looking to stamp that out for the good of the game.

Totally agree but the happy clappers won’t let you say that. Haalands goals have distracted from how poor we have actually been. Long way back and top 4 not guaranteed.
Fuck off with your moronic statement. We will be top 4 for sure, and we still have a great chance of winning PL. Worst case scenario we are 7 pts behind, we have a deeper squad than Arsenal, and now they will have to play EL with more starters than before. Not only that, but it's normally around January that we actually start playing well. So shut up with the nonsense.
