Everton V City Post Match Thread

Said before the game, I'd have been happy with a point. Especially with Yaya missing, and players just returning from injury. However it's a real concern, how we keep loosing our heads, when in front, and throwing leads away. Too many complacent performances today, I won't single anyone out, as a few just weren't at the races. Our inability to put away many chances came back and bit us on our arse yet again. We have more than enough talent to bury these chances, we need to be more clinical, and take a chance from distance more. The amount of times, we break at pace, only to slow it down, at the opposition box, is also a concern, we're just allowing their defence to regroup, and can't break it down. Also how long do we have to be totally inept at corners, before the management team actually address the issue? Becoming a bit of a joke now. All in all though, a point is a point, and we're still right in the mix, so keep your heads up blues. A bright blue future is still ours for the taking.

Hey?, Complacency was the last word I would use about our performance today. It was a very positive performance, we bossed the game overall and unlucky not to win.

Like ragcafe on here if we dont win every game ffs.

This player shit, that player wank etc etc etc.

Not a fucking clue some of those spouting, not a fucking clue and very very short memories!

Its a natural, perfectly understandable reaction after being joint top and dropping 2 points. Give it a rest

Rubbish.

Its typical kneejerk knicker wetting because we didnt win.

Give over mate. A handful of posters might get a bit carried away, but the vast majority of what is being said here is reasonable. Very little 'knicker-wetting' going on (apart perhaps from those who take umbrage at any criticism of the team).

1-0 up against a side low on confidence, we should have seen it out. To not do so, and to lose two points on Chelsea (especially given the two matches coming up) is disappointing. Not the end of the world, but definitely disappointing.

Do you think Navas is a good crosser of the ball then?

I think he flatters to decieve if im being honest but today he was part of a side that got a point away, in atrocious conditions at Everton.

We sit 2nd in the league with everything to play for yet its moan fucking moan every week.

Fuck its so bad on here it even goes on after a convincing win these days!

Mangala getting far to much critsism,it seems when Jovetic went of he was the next easy target. Manuel shouldn't be playing Lampard in that midfield two. Lampard always goes foward and he struggles to get back in time.
Nasri slowed the tempo soo much today, we need two wide players, Nasri without his chum isn't half as effective
Ignore it. Demichellis was worst than mangala today, he got us in some very tricky situations. Getting quite bored of seeing the same players getting slagged off. Nasri was poor today, but did anyone moan at him? Oh yeah, he was the previous boo boy.

Like all prospects he'll have good and bad games the key is for the manager to take him out of the firing line from time to time.

But with Nastachi having to have committed something horrendous for Pellingrini to have fallen out with him so much and Kompany always out injured, we just don't have enough quality in the squad to cover at Centre half at the moment. Great point today in horrendous conditions, and that point just may make a difference come the final day of the season.

I thought we edged the game today. Disappointed we conceded late on. Another poor error by Joe hart (think that's 3 in his last 3 games) although he made a couple of saves.

I genuinely can't understand how anybody could say mangala had a good game. His problem seemed to be when lukaku stood him up one and one. In my opinion he beat him every time.

Positives today were Clichy continuing his great form, fernando had for me maybe his best game of the season, silva is just a genius and a very rusty Aguero got some minutes on the pitch. We'll play worse and win this season - game should have been killed off in first half.

I've just been through all ten pages of this thread and no one's mentioned our last minute substitution - can anyone explain this?

Why take off Nasri with only injury time left?

(surely we weren't settling for the draw & looking to run the clock down??)

Page 3.... Crap subs and Nasri strolled off like we were winning
What do you expect when our manager sends in a defender with two or three minutes remaining ? It is understood Pelle was happy with just a point but you still manage to take a dig at Nasri .

Not a great result after being in a winning position, never been a huge Hart fan myself - i like the fella but few too many mistakes for me when you compare him to the other top keepers in Europe and his distribution has been a weakness for a long time but just never seems to improve!

But hopefully a big performance against Arsenal next week will get us back on track.
