Everyone on here and in this country is to blame

Usual stuff after an ordinary England display. The world cup ain't over yet. If England beat Slovenia they'll qualify. They could even get to the quarter finals by not playing one decent football team. Once into the knockout stages they'll have the same chance as everyone else.
If they fail to beat Slovenia and don't qualify, then you can all have a good moan, until then nothing is lost yet.

The blame, for me, lies completely with the coach.

Although the OP made some good points, this team is still massively underachieving.

Robert Green looked scared to death before they even left the tunnel against the USA. Goalkeeping is a unique position where there really is nowhere to hide and, consequently, confidence plays a major part. That big jawed, Italian tactical sage should have simply declared his best keeper, played him in the warm ups and tried to build his confidence up prior to the championships.

He stands on the touchline bawling instructions at one of the most experienced squads of players we've ever sent. Clearly, his club record is excellent, but when players are away from home for a month, just living and breathing football, you need more than tactical nouse to get the best from them. Whilst the players, certainly up until this point, respect Capello, I suspect that very few actually like him. Whilst some may say that this doesn't matter, I just feel when the chips are down and they know they're gonna get bollocked whatever they do, it doesn't help that he remains so cool and aloof.

Robson and venables both commanded respect, however they had the knack of getting players wanting to play for THEM! They had charisma - Capello has none! I resent the fact that this group of players are struggling unecessarily and completely blame our coach!

99% of people in this country are to blame even if you don't know it.

"Robinho doesn't track back"
"Micah Richards is quality"
A team keeping posession "get it fucking forward, stop fucking about"
"Berbatov is shite, what a waste of £30m"
On a Saturday morning "CLEAR IT" - "GET RID" - "STOP FUCKING ABOUT YOU LITTLE SHIT" - "YOU'VE COST US THE FUCKING GAME BECAUSE YOU TRIED TO DRIBBLE INSTEAD OF GETTING RID"

And Capello's just to blame. Lennon is a decent player in the prem but only because teams defend a high line here so he has the oppourtunity to use his pace. At international level it is different and you need someone with class on the ball who can get you out of tight situations like a certain person on the bench (J.Cole) and a lad back home in Manchester (A.Johnson)

We are the only country that would give the likes of Heskey 1 cap let alone nearly 60 because he is strong, big and causes havoc.

We are the only country that hails decent players like Wayne Rooney world class.

We are the only country who picks two gaff prone keepers who have been in a relegation battle all season over an outstanding young keeper who took and it was him only took a promoted average side to a top table finish because of experience. Iker Casillas was playing in the champions league final at 19 FFS!

We are the only country who persist on playing that outdated formation of a standard 4-4-2 with no adapability.

This country may have invented the rules of the game but it's an embarrasment and it's not because of Rooney, Capello and co but because of the people in this country.

What we need to do is to get a group of talented 6-10 year olds and send them to Spain, Holland and Argentina and tell them to not come back until they have completed their football education as thats the only way we will achieve major honours as a country.

"Robinho is shite, he doesn't track back! Come on Bellers run like a headless chicken and shout alot, thats what us english want" FFS

Only on Bluemoon do you have children falling over themselves to blame everyone BUT the manager...

i see it like this- capello comes in with a reputation of being a "iron sargent". picking players on form not reputation. if he actually did that, i think the press would hound his 23 man squad, cos they'd be a few surprises in there, but then the pressure would be off and england could play how everyone knows they can play. also, he moved gerrard out left cos he hasnt got the the balls to drop lamps. rooney prefers playing alone up front. its no coincidence his performances for england are way short of his best. brazil didnt even take ronaldinho. terry's season means he should start on the bench. lampard's performance against the U.S meant he should have dropped to the bench. gerrard only came into the game when he moved to the midde last night. 4-4-2 wasnt working last night so what do england do?? bring off lennon to bring on wright-phillips!! he should have took heskey off for joe cole, joe cole on the left, gerrard supporting rooney. id even have preferred carrick to come on on for lamps.
