Even that was a tap in from 2 yards out if I remember correctly.......An absolute joke. If he wants to come out of retirement, then fair enough, but let him be picked on merit. Why would we waste one of the few times a year that Southgate gets to spend with the squad honouring a player that went to three World Cups and scored a grand total of 1 goal?

No one will say it publically but I suspect most Premier League managers are seething about this. Makes a mockerey of the so-called International break and undermines everything Southgate is trying to do with the England team's development. I am sure this must have been forced on Southgate but don't expect the truth to come out any time soon. FFS if Rooney wanted to help charity he could just write a big cheque.
