F.A. to have Wayne Rooney Testimonial Match

I am adamant if this wasn't Rooney no one would be arsed in the slightest.
My attitude would be exactly the same whichever internationally retired footballer they were wheeling out for this farce. It's the very fact that he's an internationally retired footballer that I object to.

If the FA really had to give him a send off, it should have been an invitational testimonial game in the summer, not a warm-up game 3 days before a competitive international.

Not defending Rooney, the guy is a bell end of the highest order.

People contradict themselves with their opinions though, they say it makes a mockery of getting a cap yet they want that cap handed to some average player who has had a handful of decent games in the Prem (not Sancho just in general) dishing the caps out like sweets. I am adamant if this wasn't Rooney no one would be arsed in the slightest. So you are saying they haven't stated how much is going to the foundation then you are declaring yourself that nothing is going to it, which is it? They either haven't stated it or nothing?

This is nothing to do with a City fan isn't it? For everyone slagging it then 100% it is being a blue and why your opinions are blinkered because it is an ex United player. If it was anyone else you wouldn't be arsed just like I'm not arsed. it is a friendly ffs. If you look at it differently it is an attempt for a send off for England's record ever goal scorer who never got the usual circus many other players did when they stopped playing, in a meaningless friendly against the nation he now plays. If it was Lampard or a different likeable character with no City link too you would be nowhere near as passionately against it as you are. No fucker is even arsed about Rooney, I don't know how you think it will get shit loads of publicity for it.

You commented directly to my post which attacked the alleged charity link. I showed quite clearly in my post that despite how the FA have tried to paint it, no money from this match is going to Rooneys foundation. It is a con. There are a number of 'initiatives' including a dinner that will look to raise money but that is not how they are trying to portray it. Just to be clear I object to Rooney taking the place of a youngster who could gain valuable experience but as I wont be watching it I am not that arsed. What I object to is Rooney and the FA basically lying to cover their sorry little arses by pretending thousands of pounds will be going directly from the match to charity. They couldn't sell tickets so they came upwith a jolly wheeze, that is fine but don't lie to people, especially not when it concerns a so called charity.

Aside from which, I also posted to highlight how yet again you were attacking Blues. You always do and you always will.

It's a strange one, but I really couldn't care less, either way tbh.

I don't like Rooney but it's only a friendly, it's to raise money for his foundation, promote the game in the US, and it's a nice touch, I suppose.

Let’s face it they could have honoured Rooney at half time, presented him with some kind momento akin to what we do with the shirt and said 2 quid from every ticket sold will go to his foundation but no being the utter fucking set of bellends they are come up with this nonsense ego stroking.

But it isnt going to raise money for his foundation. That is the FA con/lie. They are having a number of initiatives around the ground that may raise some money, they are also having a dinner. Thats it. Gate money, beer money, programme money etc etc are all being kept by the FA.
From the FA website 'Fundraising initiatives around the game will allow fans to support the Foundation’s work, including donations via BT MyDonate and a Gala Dinner at Wembley Stadium in 2019.'

Note the date 2019 !!!!!!!

A friendly against USA, is that going to make or break someone's international career? It's a friendly ffs, a game where nobody will care about in the slightest. You stating you wouldn't be watching it anyway sums it up. It is a nothing game simple as that, doesn't offend me in the slightest if a player loses 45 minutes of playing time because they have had a purple patch this season and then never to be seen again.

OK mate, I withdraw that bit.

New to the thread...

I still don't really care though.

This being the best example of my posts, what has Hart got to do with it. People are offended because it is Rooney and played for United. Would it be ok if it was done for Hart too then? Agree with the rest of the post even if it is irrelevant to the actual thread.

Everyone can have an opinion, funny how it is all very negative ones though isn't it purely based on who he played for. I don't even really have one on this, it's all a bit meh for me but it certainly doesn't offend me as it does many on here.
Yet you still find it within yourself to voice your negative opinion about ‘fellow blues’, not at all a hypocrite are you
